Publisher's Summary

Born to a rarified breed of Russian aristocracy, Kraven the Hunter had stalked and killed every animal known to man and considered himself the world's best big-game hunter. It was this confidence that brought him to New York years ago, in an obsessive quest to hunt what he considered the city's greatest prey: Spider-Man.

But his target eluded him time and again, mocking him at every turn.

Now, after years of crushing defeats against the web-slinger, Kraven has hatched one last plan to best Spider-Man. In a stunning instant of shocking violence, Kraven stands finally triumphant over Peter Parker's seemingly dead body. And to prove that he is the hero's master...Kraven will pull on his costume and become him!

This GraphicAudio® Production is adapted from the graphic novel by J.M. DeMatteis and Mike Zeck.

Fun read

I read the original in comic book form back in the day. I thought this was good adaptation of the graphic versions. The story was solid, Kraven was a complex villain, Venom was written in a way that made one empathize with him, and Spider-Man was true to the comic book character we all love. My one complaint is that the sound effects were a bit over the top and distracted from the story, particularly when kissing and hugging occur in the script, and the anguished grunt, screams and cries were silly. Some theatrics are good, but the story was written well enough that in some cases, less would have been more.

Not What I Was Expecting

I didn't know that this audio book would've been performed by actors. Was generally surprised and impressed with the music, sound effects etc. I think they got the actor who played Spider-Man from the 90s animated series. But I could be wrong. This is a hidden gem in my library for sure

I wish I could give it more Stars!!!

The complexity and deepness of the story was incredible. A-1 performance might be one of the greatest spider-man stories ever told.

Decent story

warning spoilers:

Story little predictable. Spider-Man losses at beginning and wins at end. Story at times a little ridiculous, like Spider-Man is buried underground for two weeks in a tombstone and somehow still lives. Story is also produces an unclean feeling like when Spider-Man battles the villain Vermin at end and he is ingesting all that sewage water as a result of their battle. Also in this battle, Spider-Man is at times exposing his recent cuts and wounds to the sewage water.

Confusing, and dragged on

The Actors and Actresses did a great job

this book isn't a Spider-Man book, it's a Kraven book that happens to feature Spider-Man. Spider-Man was barely in this book. the hallucinations made it hard to follow EVERYONE WAS HALLUCINATING. at one point I thought Mysterio was going to be a surprise ending pulling the strings... and the amount of times I heard the term "I am" smh wow

Solid performances but I have a few nitpicks

It's a classic story and if you haven't read the original comic, I highly recommend it not just for the story but the amazing art as well! Anyway, it's pretty faithful but a few bits could've been from comics that weren't in the collected edition that I read or the writer just took some liberties. Either way, not a big deal!
What bugged me throughout the whole thing was how they described Spidey's costume as the classic red and blue one when in the comic it's his black one he wore for a while after getting rid of the symbiote! Just a nitpick but it did annoy me. Anyway, apart from some added content, it's a pretty good and faithful adaptation of a classic comic with good performances and solid music. Definitely recommended!
