Hohlers Kunst der Verkürzung ist es, die sich auch in den Reportagen über schweizerische Agglomerationen hervorragend bewährt. Er geht unter Autobahnen durch, Schallschutzwänden entlang, an Einkaufszentren und Wohnblockgegenden vorbei. Später im Jahrhundert wird sich hier nachvollziehen lassen, wie es in den zehner Jahren bei uns im schweizerischen Mittelland ausgesehen hat. Denn dieses Mittelland, überbaut, übernutzt und trotzdem immer wieder reizvoll, gibt den Hauptschauplatz von Hohlers Erzählungen ab.
