Publisher's Summary

Overthinking isn't a personality trait. It's the sneakiest form of fear.

It steals time, creativity, and goals. It's the most expensive, least productive thing companies invest in without even knowing it. And it's an epidemic. When New York Times best-selling author Jon Acuff changed his life by transforming his overthinking, he wondered if other people might benefit from what he discovered. He commissioned a research study to ask 10,000 people if they struggle with overthinking too, and 99.5 percent said, "Yes!"

The good news is that in Soundtracks, Acuff offers a proven plan to change overthinking from a super problem into a superpower. When we don't control our thoughts, our thoughts control us. If our days are full of broken soundtracks, thoughts are our worst enemy, holding us back from the things we really want. But the solution to overthinking isn't to stop thinking. The solution is running our brains with better soundtracks. Once we learn how to choose our soundtracks, thoughts become our best friend, propelling us toward our goals.

If you want to tap into the surprising power of overthinking and give your dreams more time and creativity, learn how to DJ the soundtracks that define you. If you can worry, you can wonder. If you can doubt, you can dominate. If you can spin, you can soar.

Best book I have listened to on audible

This is an amazing book and I have read a great deal of self help books. Jon clearly defines the problems and solutions to overthinking. I did not have to go back and dissect my whole life and all the traumas suffered as a child although I did remember Ms Shepherd berating my grade 3 art project. Thanks Jon.!!!. I have nearly completed the book twice over the past 5 days and have downloaded the new anthem. I will be interested to see the results but I am confident of changing my “soundtracks”. I rarely write reviews but this is one that I fully endorse

<Insert> Record Scratching Noise

Acuff ought to secure a Grammy for this new beat; it’s sure to become a classic! Flippin’ coins and modulating your personal soundtracks from minor to major keys are concepts I plan to use personally, professionally, but most significantly in my mentoring relationships.

You can take this one to the bank and cash it in because it’s going to pay dividends (but be sure to ask for it in half dollars). Thanks for putting pen to paper and bringing my internal soundtracks to life so I can retire the old classics and spin a catchy new remix.

Overthinking: Superpower > Superproblem

Once again Jon Acuff nails it. This concept is one we’ve heard many times. “Your thoughts determine your actions.” But he flips that into
Saying “the most important conversations you have in your life are with yourself.” And he goes so deep into this, that the entire book is a goldmine for actual & practical use in every day life. You’ll be thankful to read this one no matter where you’re at in life.

Great Advice for Overthinkers!

Jon gives practical suggestions for overcoming overthinking. Who knew that overthinking was such a drain on our productivity? I love that he reads his own books. Listening to Jon read feels like he is just giving a talk at the Ryman.

This book can change your life!

We all have thought patterns (soundtracks) that pop up uninvited throughout our day. Many of us have negative thoughts that cause us to experience worry, fear, discouragement or anger. This book gives many practical tips on how to change our brain from a negative jerk into a cheerleader and life coach that helps us fight our fears and spurs us into action. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a brain that is too vocal on the negative and needs some retraining to see the positive.

Best audio book I have ever listened to.

The content of Jon’s book is outstanding and so helpful. And even better is Jon’s reading. He is hilarious and so entertaining. He adds somethings here so it really does seem like we are talking. It made me buy a physical copy and I will be listening to this again!
