About this listen

After the tragic death of his lover, Helen Flemming, Eisenmenger throws himself back into his work as a forensic pathologist. The newly promoted Chief Inspector Beverley Wharton brings him in to help on the grisly discovery of a severed head in a local farmyard.

When a headless – but female – body then turns up in a dustbin, they must acknowledge that this shows all the signs of the work of a serial killer. However, this killer seems to have scientific knowledge and a desire to experiment with his victims in his search for the ultimate soul…

This instalment is a real shocker. Utterly gruesome and cruel, so be warned. Although it is my least favourite of the series up til now - I do think the author went a bit too far on the sensational meter - it's still a compelling read if you like the horror/crime genre and the others in the series. Having said that, the character development was a little lacking, so if you skip this one you're not missing much on that side of things, I don't think.

Shocking, but in a good way.

Another solid book , This was the second one I had read in the series and I chose it because I liked the blurb. I was not disappointed as it was a great story.

The narration was superb as always

Enjoyable
