The story and character build was really good with a few unexpected turns toward the end. Ehlen Valentine was the female narrator and as for quite a few others the performance would have been more enjoyable had she dialled it back a few notch's. It seems to me that when voicing an internal or verbal emotional dialogue a number of female narrators seem to think pitching the tone in a high whining voice elevates the performance.... I find this so very irritating as apart from the fact that most women in this day and age are much stronger than this, it is simply hard to listen to and enjoy the book.

This is book one of the duet and I’ll be diving into book two VERY soon! While this book did start off slow-ish it certainly picked up and took off running! And you best believe I was hooked!
I love a good mafia romance, the darker the better. Our Don in this book is certainly morally grey, but I feel if he had have been more morally black would e enjoyed it more.
Still I did like it!!
