Witty, heartfelt & empowering!

In some way we can all relate to the different women characters im this book. The right mix of emotion and humor throughout the book, kept me interested and invested in the characters.

Different!

It took me a little bit to get my head around this one and if I liked it... it's raw, gritty, funny.. very different. I actually really, really enjoyed it. By the end I was so immersed in the characters and storyline I didn't want it to end!

Being a woman

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This was an excellent portrayal and insight into the very different lives and struggles of several women in the modern world. O’Porter cleverly overlaps their journeys of self-discovery, bringing their stories together, and creating a sense of women’s solidarity. Exploring themes such as feminism, self-awareness, motherhood, personal empowerment, relationships, sex, love, mental health, emotional abuse and self-esteem, she has created a relatable and thought-provoking read for women of ages.

Loved this book and characters

Loved the narration of this book and the interesting strong female characters. Felt like you were hearing their personal diaries of their struggles, gaining a real insight into their lives, some which were very relatable. It was humerus and somewhat jaw droopingly shocking along the way...with some cliches and predictable moments. There were lots of great lessons and moments of reflection to take from the women’s stories in this book. The only thing I’m not convinced by is Liam being an actual nice guy despite the horrible comments about Ruby at their Wedding.

Loved the premise

Great message, a little full on. I would have liked it more if the 3.5 year old didn’t have such an unrealistic vocabulary. It just threw me! Also, the characters were a bit too much. Everything was a bit over the top BUT I loved the message and the ending.

A brilliant listen

I loved listening to ever minute of this book. It had me laughing out loud. There was also lots of tender moments too. Dawn writes with such great insights into women’s minds the world of Instagram and #influencers. It is so refreshing. The narration performances really complemented the characters. Love it and can’t wait for the next one. It would make an epic movie too. #blessed #solucky #kiwifan. Love your work Dawn and your IG. VJ cooks in New Zealand

Adored the book, SO LUCKY!

I’m an Instagram follower of Dawn’s and expected the book to be a bit sillier, based on the fun the has on her IG stories. The book was darker than I expected, but I liked the humor, nonetheless. I found the contemporary analysis of life as we live it, now, on modern social media quite revelatory, deep. “Well done, ya saucy minx,” I’d say, if I knew Dawn in person, which I do not, but feel like I do, and wish I did. #hugs

Crude

vulgar and crude will be returning. All it is about is women masturbating, vibraters and a very hairy woman ! Made me feel quite sick, not even a real story to it.

Dreadful - reads like a badly written teen magazine

I read The Cows which I thought was ok... Nothing great. But this was painfully bad! Cliche, unbelievable, poorly written. It was difficult to get through.

Just seemed to miss the mark!

I had high hopes for this book as I loved The Cows however it feels like O'Porter is just trying to be shocking for the sake of it. The way in which some of her characters act and think just seem far fetched and ridiculous at times. I didn't hate the book completely but wouldn't recommend it! I like the style of the writing and always appreciate when authors give you multiple narrator's but I'm afraid I just didn't find it an entertaining book. If you listened to The Cows and were put off by the train scene (which I actually wasn't) then So Lucky won't be for you.

Enjoyable and mildly shocking

I struggled with some of the performance by Dawn, it felt rushed and unprepared with incorrect inflection during some sentences. Often hearing her swallow or run out of breath. Story was OK not as good as Cows

Every woman needs to read this!

Another fantastic book by Dawn O'Porter - I couldn't stop listening! Beth and Ruby are such strong and relatable characters; a story of true courage and feminism in a world where it's still so difficult to be a woman sometimes. I also want to thank Dawn for writing so openly about the trials of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). It is something that so many women suffer with, including myself, and yet it is so rarely talked about. Dawn has a gift for sharing the good, the bad and the 'ugly' aspects of navigating womanhood - and has helped me understand myself more as a result.

As brilliant as ‘Cows’ if not better!

I really enjoyed this! I saw a few people say it wasn’t as good as ‘Cows’ but I personally thought it was just as good if not better! Definitely worth a listen.
