About this listen

Roger Reaves grew up a poor farm boy in Georgia and went from making 'moonshine' to becoming one of the most prolific smugglers of the 20th century. He covered six continents, transporting 20 ton ship loads of hash, tons of cocaine, and completed more than 100 sorties across the US border with plane loads of marijuana. His friends and associates spanned the globe - from Medellin Cartel kingpins Jorge Ochoa and Pablo Escobar, to "Mr. Nice" Howard Marks and the infamous Barry Seal who was Roger's close friend and employee. He escaped from prison on five separate occasions; was shot down in both Mexico and Colombia; and tortured almost to death in a Mexican prison. Despite it all, Roger still has a twinkle in his eye as he recounts his life story. And you have probably never heard of him...till now.

Found it very honest and interesting. Narration by author was a big plus as he was telling his own story and his accent was a big part of it.

great listen

What an incredible story. We could all learn a lot from Reaves, despite being a smuggler he has a good moral compass.

Great story teller but at the of the day stop justifying your crime - your just a criminal that supported murderers and evil. You weave a great tale but you choose to support drug bosses. God knows.

I think this is made better by the fact its narrated by the author, who better to tell their own tale who did so with emotion, detail and at times brutal honesty.
This will especially appeal to people with a bit of rogue in them, those with a sense of mischief and with a twinkle in their eye.
I am one such, I've had not half the adventures described in this book but man did this story have me on the edge of my seat at times, other times laughing out loud and also sadness at the human impact. I listened to it at every opportunity.
If I'd had the physical copy it'd be one of those books you'd say "I couldn't put it down."
I'm glad to see Roger Reaves is now released and is a popular guest on talks and podcasts.
He has a great story and tells it well.
I genuinely think this is the most interesting tale I've heard in all my years.

This tale will make you wonder... "What if.."
