About this listen

From Sarah Richards, the best-selling author of The Worst of You, China White and Born Winners, comes a riveting psychological thriller performed by award-winning actress Sarah Gadon.

Rhonda’s dream of becoming a best-selling author has turned into a nightmare of shattered hopes and writer’s block. But when a free-spirited young teacher candidate named Emi offers her a chance to ghostwrite her shocking memoir, Rhonda sees an opportunity for redemption.

Little does she know, this project will plunge her into a dark web of secrets, lies, and deadly consequences. When Emi’s body is discovered and Rhonda’s husband is accused of having an affair with the victim, Rhonda finds herself unearthing a trail of dark secrets that someone is willing to kill to keep buried. As the shadowy figures responsible for Emi’s murder set their sights on Rhonda, she must race against time to prove her innocence and prevent her own story from ending in a tragedy.

An easy listen and the story does flow. Some unexplained events unless I tuned out as was listening whilst doing a project. Great narration

The story builds somewhat

An intriguing listen, narrated perfectly. Look forward to more from the author. Listened in one sitting x could not put it down

Loved it

The premise was good but it did feel like the ending took 1/3 of the book which detracted from the overall story. The narrator was good.

Ok but dragged on a bit

This audiobook was okay but had the potential to be better. The narrator has a nice voice and does a good job except for whenever she does a male voice, making them all sound like a cliche dumb jock. The story itself was entertaining enough, however there were no real standout moments to make the listener laugh, cry or gasp, it all very much felt like a midday soap opera a lot of the time. Still, enough to listen to the end to find out what happens, even though too much has to be tied up neatly in the epilogue. Three stars.

Just Interesting Enough

This seemed childish and hard to believe. None of the characters were very likable, either.

Hard to finish

Actually all of them were pretty awful - certainly no one you would want to sit down and have a coffee with. I cringed pretty much through the whole book - only finished cause I’m stubborn and didn’t want to give up - and did have a mild interest in ‘who did it’ Don’t waste your time or energy.

Main character was awful

No one in this book behaves the way any real person would behave. It’s baffling.

Don’t bother
