Publisher's Summary

From the international number one bestselling author of The Confession comes an intense, clever and gripping thriller, perfect for fans of Lianne Moriarty, JP Delaney and White Lies.

It's June 2008 and twenty-one-year-old Adam Lattimer vanishes, presumed dead. The strain of his disappearance breaks his already fragile family.

Ten years later, with his mother deceased and siblings scattered across the globe, Adam turns up unannounced at the family home. His siblings return reluctantly to Spanish Cove, but Adam's reappearance poses more questions than answers. The past is a tangled web of deceit.

And, as tension builds, it's apparent somebody has planned murderous revenge for the events of ten years ago.

Good story. Excellent Narrator.

This story was hard to put down. I read it every chance I got. Very intertwined so the murderer was difficult to pick - if, in fact you can.
I also love this narrator, she reads without stumble or error.

A Great Read

There are a lot of characters and the story moves between the present and the past but once I got to know each character it was easy to follow and the movement between past and present made sense. The narration was fabulous and I really enjoyed it and would recommend it as a great "who dunnit?".

Keeps you guessing until the end!

As usual a great book from Jo Spain! Great characters, and equally great story line. And of course fabulous narration from Aoife McMahon.
I am finding it hard to choose any other author these days!

Aoife McMahon’s narration gets this over the line

Although Aoife McMahon’s narration makes this an easy listen, the structure of the book is annoying, and I almost gave up on it. The action switches between a number of time periods, and six different perspectives within those time periods, to drip feed bits of information that go to - too slowly - make up the overall plot. It’s a tedious way to approach a story, and it feels like an age before it all comes together. Still, always lovely to listen to this narrator’s beautiful accent.

Gripping story with a great twist

Compelling murder mystery where every character has a motive.
I found that I had to restart from the beginning from around the 10th chapter, just to reset the characters and the story in my mind because I found myself losing track of who was who and what their back stories were.
Once I did that, I was a goner!
I binge listened to the end.
Cleverly written, the author masterfully reveals the back stories of each of the siblings whilst also building layers on their motives and individual relationships with their father.
Aiofe McMahon is a brilliant narrator. Simply flawless.

excellent narration, difficult to follow story

The narration was great.
The story was a bit tedious. Too many individual stories, none of which are fully fleshed out. The time jumps didn't add to it.

A good who dunnit.

A bit complicated with timeline changing, but as the story progressed I finally got “a handle on it”. Was hard to put it down, as I’m sure it would be if reading the actual book. Well done.
