About this listen

A wonderful story of adventure through the different spheres of life by Scottish author George MacDonald.

Listeners will fall in love with this "Christ-like" character, Gibbie, who is a mute, yet truly good in heart and in deed. A uniquely creative tale that will capture both the old and the young for ages to come.

Though a fiction book, it has the potential of expressing life lessons in a most enjoyable way.

May you be blessed as you travel with Sir Gibbie in this tale!

A wonderful book capably read. So much wisdom and goodness in one story that doesn’t preach but turns a mirror to one’s weaknesses, as does our hero to those who would claim to be his betters. A book to be read again and again.

A beautiful story of love, strength and faith

I have read a revised version of this book and loved it. To hear it in the original language was beyond my hopeful dreams. Thank you! Thank you! I struggled with the Scottish dialect at first but persisted and won through, helped by recollections of my Scottish grandmother's day-to-day speech. I hope to hear another of George Macdonald's novels one day, especially if told by the same narrator. Joy

Wonderfully read so that even I could understand nearly all the Scots dialect, engaging story and uplifting characters.

Longing for Bonnie Scotland!
