About this listen

Walker

There are several principles of landscaping, but my favorite has always been simplicity.

I'm a go-with-the-flow and keep-it-simple kind of guy. Always have been. Always will be.

It's how I do my job and how I live my life.

Of course, as luck would have it, it only takes one job and one indescribably hot stranger to change everything for me.

Because one thing Dutton Collins is not... simple.

Dutton

I should have sold the house. I shouldn't be here in the middle of nowhere Kansas.

My grandmother didn't care for me when she was alive, something she made sure I knew. So now I'm struggling to understand why she'd leave me her home and all her possessions when she died.

I missed the city and was heading back home, ready to give up, when Walker Murphy barreled into my life and complicated the hell out of it.

How am I supposed to leave this all behind when he's showed me the beauty in the simple life?

I did like the story of this book, it was sweet and I liked the characters, but OMG the amount of sex that is in this did my head in. I don't mind there being some sex, but there was so much sex it was more like a porno except it had a better story.

If you are into books that have sex in almost every chapter, then you will love this. For me, I just found myself skipping over it and going to the story.

Not really worth the price for me. Though, the narrators were fantastic, two of my favourites.

Fashion photographer Dutton Collins works in California, having left Hayes, Kansas, when his grandmother disowned him for being gay. He’s surprised to learn she has left him her house and he hires a local building company, Oakley’s Crew, to refurbish the house for sale. Walker Murphy enjoys his job at Oakley’s but he’s even happier when he meets Dutton. The two start to fall for each other but both know that Dutton won’t be in town for long.

I quite like Nicole Dykes’ writing style so I enjoyed this small-town romance. It was sweet and straightforward with no angst but somehow it didn’t feel too fluffy or inconsequential. Both Dutton and Walker were decent, sensible guys with few hangups and few internal monologues. The spice level was medium with a mild panty kink and the story puttered along nicely. 🎧 I’ve encountered the audio tag team of Liam DiCosimo (as Dutton) and Tim Paige (as Walker) many times and they always work well together. Bring on the next book in the series!
