Epic Productivity Boost!

This book is excellent in terms of boosting focus, self-discipline, and productivity. This book inspired me to take exercise very seriously. I've worked out early before work now for two weeks, and it's absolutely changed my life. I feel like a new person--calmer and more confident!

Here is a summary of my biggest takeaways:

1. Don't get sucked into unrealistic and impossible goals. Habits are built on cue, action, reward AKA reminder, routine, reward. Stack habits--build habits off of each other.
2. Pause and delay when faced with breaking a habit to give your mind time to resist. Visualize the process of reaching a goal not the goal itself. Otherwise you feel like you've already accomplished the goal when you haven't.
3. Don't mistake mediocrity for moderation; moderation isn't the same as doing a task poorly. Don't fall for freebies for freebies' sake. Don't accept an offer just because it's free.
4. Strive for self-discipline over the long term rather than self-control over the short term. Uphold your principles. Difficulty now by embracing and creating self-discipline will be easier later.
5. Stay aligned and consistent with your values. Build new positive habit over a previous negative habit. For example, use the same reminder but a better reward. Build the focus required to do deep work, focused and brilliant work. > Cal Newport
6. When possible, employ immediate action of an even simpler kind to pursue goals that are procrastinated. Break down the goals into simple tasks and do one simple task at a time to break through procrastination.
7. Avoid the addiction of talking about action rather than acting. For example, book the vacation before saying that you're going on vacation. Challenge yourself to stop complaining, as much as possible.
8. Self-discipline is like compound interest and stocks; over a long time there are enormous gains. Develop self-discipline and an unbreakable resolve.
9. Know when to follow your habits and when to allow yourself time to enjoy life by relaxing those habits by taking a controlled break.
10. Focus on the 20% of tasks that produce 80% of your positive results. Usually, pick the simplest way to approach a given task.

Book Set

Two things of note: 1) I had a hard time making a headline and may change it. 2) I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This set is huge.. Six book containing almost 25 hours of content. I listened to all six books on the treadmill and while exercising at the gym.
Martin has a lot of common sense and puts it into easily digestible thoughts in his books in this set. Some of the things you will realize you already know and may have an "ah ha" moment hearing them here. Books are well written in easy to follow thoughts, I will warn you though, with six books there is a lot of repetition going on. As self help books you will find them to be worth the cost, if you are willing to step up your life a notch, these will help.

Too many mispronunciations to thoroughly enjoy

I loved and benefitted from the content of the books even though I worried that the "365 days" format would drive me crazy and would feel more like 365 common-sense platitudes. Not the case. Each day is chock full of great advice and exercises that are completely doable. I feel confident that every area of my life will be enhanced and improved by what I learned in these books.
The narrator, John Gagnepain has such a nice, soothing tone of voice but does not pronounce his "ing's" on the ends of the many words ending with ing. For instance, "human bean" instead of being, or "that is what I am sane" instead of saying. It was too much for me and I found most every sentence irritated me. I hope he improves on this, his voice is beautiful otherwise and some of us are sticklers for pronunciation.

The Art of Self-Discipline in One Box!

In our information age, many people deal with "lack-of-self-discipline disease". For me, it came to light when I was setting up my business. When starting my business, I found out that the biggest obstacle was ME. I couldn't discipline myself to sit down and do the work. I was in constant procrastination mode and couldn't discipline myself for a couple of minutes.

To cut a long story short, I've been working to cure this disease for years on end. I've read countless books and blog posts on the subject matter and watched numerous videos. Nothing seemed to work until I implemented various strategies mentioned in the Simple Self-Discipline Box Set (6-Book Bundle) audiobook.

Developing or harnessing your self-discipline might seem like a tremendous feat. Not anymore! With the Simple Self-Discipline Box Set, the art of self-discipline is expanded on in simple and easy to understand language. There are tons of (audio)books available about the topic, but they don't delve deep into the actual implementation or practice of this art. Meadows' book is different. He described the art of self-discipline in such a practical manner that will set you up for success, day in, day out.

Straight to the point but loaded with advice

most authors nowadays overuse the concept of story and spend little time or sometimes lose altogether the gist of the message not this author! Stuck to the point through out...only issue is I can't save the the books separately

Surprisingly good.

This is long audiobook (nearly 25 hours), and, to be fair, it's because it is six books collected together. You might think that you might start hearing a lot of repetition and (maybe) boredom in listening to something so long on one subject, but that hasn't been my experience.

This is a surprisingly useful book. You'll find a ton of different techniques to work with to increase your self-discipline in different areas of life. Meadows doesn't pretend that every technique listed will work for everyone for every situation. What Meadows does it provide a massive amount of information in terms of methods to implement increase your self-discipline and why these methods work. Listen to the book in bite sized chunks, take the techniques that capture your attention, use them, and get results. Then, go back tot he book and find more to work with.

All-in-all, listening to this has been well worth my time.

The best book I’ve read so far on practical self-discipline

I’ve read a number of personal development books but this Box Set is by far the best! It is a well written, easy to read and quick to comprehend compilation on different aspects of self-discipline. Most of the facts and guidance shared in the audio book are also well researched and backed up with scientific evidence and references. Even more inspiring is that the author sprinkles in lots of examples from his own personal life and experiences. I also find quite motivating, the different relevant quotes from various people that Martin Meadows has thoughtfully included.
Though it took a bit of time to complete listening to the Box Set, due to me going back to listen to several parts of it again and again, there’s really no dull moment throughout. I have already started putting to use in my own life many of the tips and keystone habits shared in the audiobook and I am seeing the difference already in many aspects of my life.
I will strongly recommend the Box Set. More grease to your elbows Martin!
