Poor Nick is dealing with a woman who doesn't ask for clarification, doesn't listen unless circumstances give her no other choice, and leaves him to do all the work toward repairing misunderstandings. This does not bode well for a long term relationship but he seems happy in the end. For that I'm glad. Let's hope there is more to Emma than this narrative reveals.

And curiously, for such a short story there is a LOT of repetition.
