About this listen

Detective Inspector Munro is a burly Scottish policeman who doesn’t suffer fools gladly. Detective Sergeant West is an intelligent young woman, new to the force, with a lot to prove.

When a missing person case lands on their desks, Munro is skeptical there is much to it. But their investigation soon comes to some strange findings, and before long a body is found.

With a serial killer on their hands, they must act fast to trace a woman placed at the scene of the crime. Yet discovering her true identity, let alone finding her, proves difficult. And as the plot thickens they realise the crime is far graver than either of them could have imagined.

Good story, and all the cops are interesting characters, though the whining and idiocy of the DS got old fast. I mean, how has she held down a DS position for 18 months? Even if she has, she's clearly not cut out for the big league cases of murder. The first person sections drag, and could have been shorter and tighter. The worst element, though, is the dialogue. Apart from the top cop, no one can finish a sentence, EVER. I admire the author's attempt at realistic dialogue, and I acknowledge that people do speak in fits and starts and incomplete sentences, but I don't think they do it quite as much as this, certainly not in the workplace, and it's infuriating to listen to.

Thought the narrator was perfect for the quirky dialogue. A good read made me smile a lot the rapport between Monroe and West.

Keep me guessing right to the end very quirky story and dialogue

I’ve got used to the narrator he’s better at female voices now. I think I would enjoy this better if I could concentrate on what the story is about. Ho-Hum
