This is my third H.D Carlton audiobook and I love her writing. Her storytelling in my opinion even though it’s quite triggering and dark takes talent to be able to write it in such a way that is healing for people who’ve experienced trauma to this extent. As someone who has I don’t know how to express it but it’s healing and I think she captures these themes very very well.

Despite there being a LOT of dark triggers… I was constantly craving to read more and I managed to finish this book within a day. H.D Carlton’s storytelling is so different from other author’s I have read and because of this, I’m looking forward to what she has to offer next.

I liked this book, it held my interest. All I want to say though is please check the trigger warnings. There are some dark DV scenes that can be difficult for some. I found some of them a little hard to get through but glad I did with how it ended. I know this may not be the most darkest of books but the subjects in this book can be a trigger for some and that’s ok. Other than that enjoy.
