Publisher's Summary

Gena Showalter, the New York Times best-selling author who brought you the Lords of the Underworld, introduces a scorching new paranormal romance series: Gods of War.

Knox of Iviland, the most ruthless warrior in the history of war, has spent his life fighting others to the death, winning new realms for his king. Now, the stakes are higher than ever. If he prevails in the battle for Earth, his slave bands will be removed. Victory is his sole focus...until he meets her.

On an Arctic getaway with her foster sister, street-tough but vulnerable Vale London is shocked to stumble upon a cave filled with ancient gods waging epic combat. When she is inadvertently drawn into their war, she is forced to team up with an unlikely ally - the sexy god who makes her burn with desire.

Though Vale is his enemy, Knox is consumed with lust and a fierce need to protect her. But only one combatant can triumph, and he will have to choose: live for freedom or die for love.

The narrations ruined the story, I had a hard time

The narrations ruined the story, I had a hard time finishing the book, and I did because it's Gena Showalter. The female was better conveying the story, but the Male voice just made me tune him out, and sadly the story.

Good story, bad narration

I had to switch to reading this story. The male narrator performance was over the top and cheesy. He needed to tone it down. The female performance was bearable. I love Gena Showalter books, and normally like the audibles, but this is not a good performance!

really guy?

the male narrator is awful. absolutely awful from beginning to end. he sounds like a cheesy parody of a narrator. it distracted from the story line, which is not too bad. I prefer lords of the underworld but this is an entertaining story.

Terrible story line, awful narrators...

Gena Showalter is an amazing author and I love her books, but this one was awful. The story line was dull and took to long to build up the climax. The narrators were not paired well together and I just struggled to get into this book. For me the narrators and story was so bad, I decided to give up in the few chapters.

Male voice

The storyline is amazing I just couldn’t get over how terrible the male voice actor is. He sounds creepy and perverted.

the male performer was too dramatic.

Knox suppose to be a cold blooded killer but the male reader's performer was dramatic and at time too exagerated.

I loved hearing the male and female voices.

i loved having a male and female narrator. I wish they would do this more often!!! LOVE! yes both performances got a lil over the top at times but I enjoyed their enthusiasm to bring the characters to life!!!. I LOVE GS and read everything she writes... but this fell slightly short for me. I was missing the character development it just kind of bounced around and then BOOM they were in love and the best versions of themselves! She usually does a better job at building towards that where I feel emotionally connected to the characters... I really didn't this time.
worth a credit.... I'd say find a book trading store and read it yourself!
I would like to hear these narrators again though and together and hopefully the next book in this series is better... but we'll see! happy listening

Umm....

I usually love this author, not for this series. The narration is also for the birds. I will try and at least finish it, although it will be hard.

Awesome Book, Horrible Male Narrator

As with all her books, Gena nailed it. The story was addicting, female narrator excellent, male narrator almost caused me to delete the file from my library and return the book. Had to make a concentrated effort to ignore his performance and listen to the story. OK, back to the book; it is about a group of warriors from other realms, some forced to participate in a war and win a new world, earth for their kings or Queens. Vale and her "sister" stumbles onto a cavern of frozen warriors and so the story begins ......

DREADFUL!

I was really looking forward to this book! but the narration particularly by the male reader spoilt it so much that l give up.
His annotation was over the top, and in most points throughout the book incorrect.
I hope other people can look past the dreadful narration, but it will be very difficult.
