Beauty meets Shadow when she goes for an impromptu run in her nightgown during a severe storm because she just wants to feel alive and is being smothered by her people because she is Gift. Shadow sees a female running in storm during a flash of lightning and thinks she is a human female trying to escape after doing something to harm other Species it isn’t until after he tackles her that he realises she is Gift. They end up spending the night sheltering in a sports shed and it changes their lives forever. What follows is a sometimes hilarious series of events that lead to mercenaries and other Species attacking them while they try to bond. The story is full of humour, villains doing nasty things and some scorching hot sexual encounters and I highly recommend the book and the series as a whole.

A story of a survivor who wants more in life than what she has now. Beauty had been rescued from captivity by the Team of NSO. Shadow a security guard at Homeland sees Beauty running in the rain and helps her find shelter. They are attracted to each other but some humans try to kidnap Beauty when they go to the Reservation for some alone time together.
