A waste of time and money

I feel absolutely taken for a ride. I listened to the whole book waiting for the part where he is supposed to help you get into action. Instead he keeps on waffling and tells stories about successful and not so successful people, which is not why I bought this book. He recommends a few software systems which is the most interesting part but otherwise the book doesn't deliver what it promises at all. He actually promises some free books for anybody who gives him 5 stars on Amazon and I am sure this is the only reason this book has such good reviews. Over promised and under delivered!

Excellent Book

I enjoyed listening to this book on my commute.
I will put into practice what I learnt.
I have bought several more of Jonathan's books now.

Misleading title.

Would you ever listen to anything by Jonathan Green again?

no.

Any additional comments?

The title is misleading. The book is vaguely describing his process of making money by writing books about popular subjects with little prior understanding and he is proud of it.
This book should have been called. How I quit my 9 to 5 job by spewing out books and selling them to gullible people like you.

The book starts fine, he makes some "ok" remarks about the society and the education system. He encourages the reader/listener to make lists and and targets but these lists are not utilized. He either forgot about it or he didn't really had a plan at the start.

There is a part in the middle which he talks about how great his networking skills are , why you should pay him or buy his products and so on. It is really hard to listen. It is like listening to an hour of advertising. It goes on forever.

He also talks about buttering up rich people to get sweet deals , but it is not explained which kinds of deals he is referring to.. His advice on networking is talk to people, offer value, buy drinks for people and talk to their wives.... there are no gems here , these are the things what any sane people would do..except talking to the wives part.

Later he starts by saying that everyone has a skill and he will come back to that. His advice later on is to write a book about it ,sell your services online or shoot a video. If you are not a simpleton you already know this stuff, everyone has heard about the YouTube millionaires , or seen an add or two which takes to online training courses. There is noting new here.

Towards the end he talks about cutting costs, how he ghost writes to earn extra cache. It seemed funny because an hour ago he was telling how he was making 6 figures or he gets sweet deals because he has tons of rich friends.
He talks about how he achieved greatness, how happy he is , how wonderful his life is..ect.. He boasts about his life so much , it makes it seem like he has a terrible sad life, i hope it is not the case.

I believe the software which he uses to divide the chapters of the book worked against him. There is no real composition or a natural flow between chapters. The way which he mentioned how websites changed by talking about the early operating systems blew my mind. I don't think he really researched any of the material before writing this book. Some stuff can not be leaned by reading a couple of articles or by taking courses.

This explains why there is no system, no real advice about anything other than writing books.

Last but not least, at the end he tells you that he will send you a coupon if you mail him a screen shot of your 5 star review. I think it is telling some thing about the author, I leave it up to you to decide .

Smart..... self promoting

I'm sure the author is a good guy and he clearly is successful. He offers a couple useful suggestions but book seems to talk alot about himself, his kids swimming lessons, that he lives on a tropical island, etc. the rest of the book is about him promoting himself his own website, and his services.

No actionable steps

This is more of a motivational book than any sort of guide or how-to book, which it advertises itself as. This made it pretty disappointing. It makes claims that sound like it's the next 4 hour workweek with a bunch of ideas that you can take action on. This book, however, is much different. "I left my job and now I write amazon books and blog posts from home. You can too!" summarizes the whole book. It feels like one long pitch for you to read his blog. Nothing of value.

Work-life for a whole new world

Jonathan Green speaks cutting edge about the state of the work field in 2017. To count on a JOB and corporate America to take care of us is no longer a "secure" way to plan your life. I read this in perfect timing for me, I was already moving to creating my own job. What he added to that was to diversify as well. This was a fabulous bonus because I was giving myself a lot of pressure to succeed at the current project. Now I can relax and do it well, but continue to think of the next thing rather than bet everything on one idea.
Thank you Jonathan! I will be combing through your site as well, as you've invited us to.

More Than I Expexted... Better Than I Had Hoped

My original search was for building an online web based business. Though the recommendations are more for information based services, rather than goods based business, the chapters on minimalism, benefits of lower cost travel, and networking, make this book great.

No excuses after reading this.

Turning 25 in less than a weak, I have only been in the “work force” for around 18 months. I have relocated and changed industries already. I was planning on doing another switch to find a new employer who could give me fulfillment in my professional and personal life. I had a good idea which was reinforced from “Serve No Master” and that is that I myself am the only employer who will be able to give me any kind of happiness or at the very least complacency. With this book I am now better equipped to take on that challenge head on. Thank you for the freedom.

truly disappointed

Teaches you absolutely nothing. Only thing truly talked about other than how great it is to be his own boss. Was you should sign up for coaching from others, Or invest in yourself through classes you want to learn about. Nothing truly on how to make money. Other than him saying I don't buy products I write. That what he does and did it was though to get through. Even skipped the last two chapters because I couldn't 🐻 it anymore. Don't buy.

Who is holding me back? Me!

This book is a must-have for anyone looking to take their faith into their own hands. It provides the framework for what it will take to make the necessary changes, both physically and mentally, in order to start creating the life you want. It reminded me as well of who is holding me back, myself, and made me believe I too am worthy and capable of running my own life, doing the work I enjoy. Thanks for the wisdom.

Very little real content big repetitive story

I thought was a guide to be self employed,
Instead the guy spen 50% of the time talking how his life is and the rest repeating seam over and over.
