Publisher's Summary

For Sidney Hale, rescuing dogs is more than a hobby. It’s a calling. A deep-seated need. An unstoppable compulsion. For reasons so unsettling, she shares them with no one…until she meets Decker. After coming to her rescue while Sidney battled to save a dog - literally - the gorgeous SEAL proves he can be trusted with her secrets, her safety…maybe even her heart.

Saving an abused pit bull from a suspected dog fighter brings Decker “Gumby” Kincade not only the dog he’s always wanted, but the first woman in ages to catch his interest. Sidney’s reason for rescuing Hannah, and animals like her, is shocking…but it makes Gumby want her even more. Her harrowing past has made her the strong, brave, compassionate woman she is today. She could be The One…if Gumby can help curb her habit of putting herself squarely in danger’s path.

But he may be too late. Hannah’s previous owner is enraged over her loss…and looking for revenge.

*Securing Sidney is the second book in the SEAL of Protection: Legacy series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

This story examines the stark reality of dogfighting and other animal abuse, and includes brief descriptions that may be unpleasant for some listeners.

When Gumby adopted the badly injured dog, Sydney’s heart melted a little...but she feels that she’s out of his league...after all, her baby brother is a notorious serial killer. Gumby is drawn to the brave, outspoken woman and the pair become fast friends. Can Gumby get past Sydney’s insecurities and show her that she’s worth loving? Another captivating story in this new series. Looking forward to more.

Sidney was stupid

Sidney could have been read better like Caite. Caite had intelligence and smarts. Sidney was acting like most people. Thinking of what they wanted to do with no regards for others who could be harmed by Bad decisions.

Good romance!

I liked this story, except sometimes the heroine really does stupid things. She’s the sister of a famous serial killer and her life has been traumatized by this. Her parents disowned her for testifying at her brothers trial. She has a compulsion to rescue abused animals because of things she’d witnessed her brother do. She meets the hero when he interrupts a fight she’s in with an abusive dog owner and he rescues her. Can they figure out a way to handle her compulsion and be together? Narration was well done.

Another fabulous book!

I don't even know where to start with my review. I know when I read a Susan Stoker book that I'm going to enjoy it. Her heroes are hot alpha guys and her heroines may be a little damaged but they aren't damsels in distress looking for their prince charming. But Ms. Stoker has outdone her self with Securing Sidney. Sidney is no Cinderella. Sure, she may be down on her luck and putting herself into dubious situations but when Prince Charming rides in, in the form of Decker Kincade aka "Gumby", Sidney is more concerned with his companion than him. Decker Kincade isn't looking for romance. Sure he wants to find someone like his teammate Rocco did but he's content with his life. Until he stops to break up a fight and gets more than he bargained for.

Get ready for a rollercoaster ride. Have the tissues ready, don't drink while reading (or you could end up snorting coca-cola out of your nose during a particularly funny part), and be ready to add a fur baby to your family! Susan Stoker takes this very sensitive and not widely known problem and shines a light on it. She gives the reader a chance to learn. Ms. Stoker also wows with these 2 new characters. They are funny, damaged, and loveable. I absolutely adored this story. The story moves along at a good pace giving you great dialogue between all the characters. As always we get to catch up with characters from other books and a sneak at an upcoming book. I loved this book and cannot wait to add it to my book collection!

Awesome just Awesome!!

Loved this book. Susan is such an amazing writer. I have yet to find one of book by SS that I don't love. And as the proud momma of two absolutely gorgeous pitbull/ mix female dogs, I to tend to fall in love with every pitbull I see. They are such love bugs lol. 🐶🐕🥰 so I completely relate to both Gumby and Sidney 👍❤ their compassion for Hannah, her situation, and just overall.

Only suggestion I have is maybe next time having a man narrate for the Seal's character and a woman for the lucky lady.😉

Another great story

Another book that you can’t put down once you start. You can sort of guess how the book is going but Susan manages to surprise you again. Great read. Can’t wait for the next book.
