Publisher's Summary

Stan Weir is mourning a tragic loss when he meets a mysterious nine-year-old girl, who claims to be the reincarnated spirit of his late wife. Marcy Keef is a single mother trying to make ends meet when her daughter Erin starts describing 'past life memories'. Neither wants to believe Erin, but as violent secrets are revealed, the truth becomes harder to deny.

With echoes of Stephen King, Second Skin is a propulsive thriller about grief, guilt and truths better left unknown.

Really?

I think I would have preferred a supernatural explanation than the one we got. Erin must be the cleverest tween on the planet. So glad it was only a novella. I’d have hated to have listened to an entire book and gotten that ridiculous ending for my efforts.

Intriguing read

The story really drew me in right to the end. Well written and well read. Definitely worth listening to.

Good for a long drive

Couple of twists and turns. Not a thriller but certainly a good glimpse into how real people are dealt tragic events.

Meh.

Well... the best thing I can say about this book is that it was free.

So much potential but weak ending

I enjoyed the story, felt connected to the characters and remained genuinely intrigued about how it would all end. Unfortunately the ending was really disappointing; a lazy and rushed conclusion that made no practical sense. I don’t think it’s a spoiler alert to say that when the term ‘fun’ is used by both the mother and child at the end of the story, I found the language both jarring and irritating. Excellent narration, great potential but a tremendous letdown that ruined the whole experience.

He got me again

I’ve read all of Christian White’s novels. They draw you in from the beginning and have you wondering about the paranormal only to twist it around. When I saw this audible original it was a no brainer for me to pick it. I look forward to his next book.

Plot twist!

I didn’t know what to expect. And I was defiantly surprised to say the least!

Engaging

Very cleverly done and voiced. This story wasn’t what I expected but ended up being thoroughly enjoyable as it unfolded.

Bit dull

The story was way too slow for my liking. The final twist was predictable and the ending quite boring 😕
At least it was a short book. I’ll give it that.
