Publisher's Summary

Stan Weir is mourning a tragic loss when he meets a mysterious nine-year-old girl, who claims to be the reincarnated spirit of his late wife. Marcy Keef is a single mother trying to make ends meet when her daughter Erin starts describing 'past life memories'. Neither wants to believe Erin, but as violent secrets are revealed, the truth becomes harder to deny.

With echoes of Stephen King, Second Skin is a propulsive thriller about grief, guilt and truths better left unknown.

I loved it.

I really love this author and the narrator was pretty good for this one, not too distracting. the only character the narrator didn't nail was Barb in my opinion.

Second Skin

The story was pretty good, but I found the narration annoying. The narrator didn’t leave enough time between “scenes” in the story and I found her voice monotone.
Overall an okay, short story.

Poor writing and inconclusive ending

Started well, like the idea behind the story but as you get into it not much substance to hold it together and I dislike vaugue endings.

Compelling story

I'm a fan of Christian White, so I should know by now that nothing is ever as it seems.
I was captivated from the beginning with Stan's tragedy and how Marcy and Erin's stories developed.
The paranormal aspect was a bit of extra spice, but, whilst I was okay with the conclusion, the ending was fairly lacklustre and I felt a bit disappointed.
Still gets a good rating though. Ellen Archer did a great job narrating.

Mixed Feelings

So I have mixed feelings about this book. I thought the twist towards the end was great, super sad, but great. But then the final twist.. argh it just made me so angry. Its definitely not up to par with The Wife and The Widow, but I don't regret listening to it. It also took a little while for me to get into the book.

Unhurried start, but gained momentum

Narrated poorly but a great story overall. The beginning was sluggish but worth getting to the details in the middle with a great ending. I was surprised and even put off watching a movie to finish the book.
