Publisher's Summary

Are you getting the spiritual nourishment you need?

We have all experienced times when we have not eaten a balanced diet or have eaten too many sweets. We feel sick, light-headed, and occasionally depressed, or we become irritable and edgy. It's the body's way of letting us know that it's lacking sufficient nourishment.

Optimal health requires optimal nutrition. The same is true spiritually speaking. Without sufficient and regular biblical nutrition, our inner life begins to suffer the consequences. We become shallow and selfish, more demanding and less gentle, and quick to react impatiently, rashly, and angrily. These are telltale signs of inner malnutrition.

In Searching the Scriptures, respected Bible teacher Charles Swindoll shows us how to dig deep into Scripture and uncover its profound truths for our lives. He outlines the principles of Bible study that will help you understand God's word, apply it, and communicate it clearly to those around you.

Too many people try to go it alone, without a guide for this life and the next. Swindoll explains how we can fix our own spiritual meals and then invites us to feast on nourishing truths we can discover in God's word.

Not good in audio format

The contents of this book are good! ...but there are so many assignments and lists of scripture to go through this book is not meant for audio. I tried to take notes so I could get in the Word myself but it was really hard to keep up with it all in audio format. If you're interested in this book based on the amazon reviews, buy the hard copy. I gave up on the audio and returned it to Audible.

Very helpful resource for going deeper in God’s Word.

A master teacher welcomes us to peek behind the curtain as he shares some of the ways that he studies the Bible to feed ourselves spiritually AND to then to guide or teach others. I couldn’t possibly recommend this any higher. The topic, the writing, and narration are all beyond compare.

Personally, this is the rare type of book that I tend to buy the audio, Kindle, and hard copy so I can enjoy the benefits of each format.

As a minister who is constantly seeking revelation from the Word of God, I found Dr. Swindoll's book to be insightful and full of knowledge to help those of us who seek a higher understanding of God Word.

You'll need a pen and paper!

There is much in this book. I will have to re-read it, but this time I will take notes. It is a great book.

Good principles but book doesn't flow well

Book is solid scripturally speaking. You could nit pick some of his thoughts. Just had a hard time correlating his meal thoughts with studying scripture.

GO MAKE DISCIPLES

Use this to disciple others. Fabulous!!!! Chuck is a master wordsmith, a master story teller, and a master illustrator. This information is not new but it could not be better said. The book is really well set up for small group studies to disciple the hungry for Christ.

You'll Need time to sit & listen w/a Bible.

I didn't particularly care for the consistent comparison of making a good meal & the Bible. This Audio book seems to be more for someone who can sit to listen with a Bible along with them & study like in school. Ones referred to verses constantly. I understand this but I can't just sit & listen & look up scriptures (I listen to audio books while working). If you're a theology student, this is a great book (or get a regular book. Narrator is a bit "flat".

Too robotic

The content in the book is good but unfortunately the narrator was too robotic for me so it was hard to follow and understand.
