Henk Faber muss aus privaten Gründen nach Dortmund - sein Vater liegt im Sterben. Aufgrund eines Wintereinbruchs fährt aber die Deutsche Bahn nicht und Lena Schröder fährt ihn nach NRW. Dort geraten die beiden unerwartet in einen Mordfall während einer Modenschau. Doch da sie im Ruhrpott nicht zuständig sind, dürfen sie auch nicht ermitteln. Hinzu kommt, dass Harald Seger, ein Dortmunder Kommissar, den Fall übernimmt. Seger kann Faber, aufgrund einer gemeinsamen Vorgeschichte, nicht leiden und möchte ihn am liebste loswerden. Nur das Faber sich nicht vertreiben lässt. Kann trotz dieser schlechten Voraussetzungen der Fall gelöst werden?
