In dem mondänen Kur- und Wintersportort macht das aus England stammende, frisch verheiratete Ehepaar Handley Winterurlaub. Doch schon bald wird ihr Glück durch eine Reihe von Morden getrübt. Bei den durchweg weiblichen Opfern handelt es sich stets um Urlaubsbekanntschaften der jungen Mrs. Handley. Alle Ermittlungen der Polizei laufen ins Leere. Mr. Handley befürchtet, dass seine Frau das nächste Opfer des Unbekannten werden kann und zieht sogar eine rasche Rückreise nach London in Erwägung. Doch bevor es darüber zu einer Entscheidung kommt, überschlagen sich die Ereignisse.
