Publisher's Summary

The deliciously witty, irresistible new novel from the top 10 Sunday Times best-selling author of Not Quite Nice follows the exploits of two women on an Atlantic cruise ship.

The phone hasn't rung for months. Suzy Marshall is discovering that work can be sluggish for an actress over 60 - even for the former star of a 1980s TV series. So when she's offered the plum role of Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest in Zurich, it seems like a godsend. Until, that is, the play is abruptly cancelled in suspicious circumstances, and Suzy is forced to take a job on a cruise ship to get home.

Meanwhile, Amanda Herbert finds herself homeless in rainy Clapham. Her flat purchase has fallen through, and her children are absorbed in their own dramas. Then she spots an advertisement for an Atlantic cruise and realises a few weeks on board would tide her over - and save her money - until the crisis is solved.

As the two women set sail on a new adventure, neither can possibly predict the strange characters and dodgy dealings they will encounter - nor the unexpected rewards they will reap. Vividly evoking the old-world glamour of a cruise ship - and the complex politics of its staff quarters - Sail Away is at once a hilarious romp and a thrilling tale of intrigue, from the acclaimed pen of Celia Imrie.

Loved this book. I listened to it on audible so enjoyed the added bonus of hearing it read by Celia Imrie herself. jolly romp that would make a wonderful film.

I’ve read all of Celia’s books and this one is just as good. Great characters and story, I couldn’t stop listening!! My husband and I love cruising and throughout the story it just made me want to book another trip.

A really good listen

This is a departure from Celia's normal style. There is a sinister aspect to the whole storyline; with dodgy characters and some very strange twists.

It was gripping all the way through, wanting to know what happens next. The two main lead characters had their stories intertwined very well.

Celia's lovely voice read beautifully as always.

Enjoyable and entertaining book

It was very well read, characters were likeable and very well done and the story kept me interested. I liked the idea of the story set on a cruise ship.

Dick Barton at its worst

Awful...like Acorn Antiques. Was it dreadful on purpose? In that case
rather amusing. The spoken words and phrases were from last century. It was like listening to an unfunny farce!
What was she thinking?

Offended as a woman in my 50s

Really based on women my age who just about manage email no use of the internet for any use and are confused when 2 things happen at once. I can take no more. Her previous 2 book were quiet good but this is trite rubbish and I'm offended that that's how anybody actually views women in this day and age let alone another woman.
