Publisher's Summary
Special Operator Lucas Shipley thought his living arrangement was temporary, since getting booted from the house by his wife. He sleeps on a couch in the apartment with four other divorced Navy SEALs, thinking he'll get the call to come home any day. He ignores the not-so-helpful advice his buddies are giving him about marriage, women, and romance. Until he gets served with divorce papers.
Marcy Gelland is hired by Lucas' soon-to-be ex-wife to liquidate all their real estate holdings and help her orchestrate a speedy departure from Lucas' life. Based on what the hot-headed SEAL wife has told her, Marcy understands Lucas deserves every ounce of pain coming his way.
But when Marcy and Lucas are left alone together in a remote Northern California woods, they ignite a personal bonfire that threatens to burn down the whole forest. Marcy is forced to see she is wrong about Lucas.
Amidst the backdrop of hardened bachelor SEALs with their unsolicited, anti-long-term relationship advice, and a terrorist training camp operating nearby, Lucas must do what he's always done: be the hero and save the day. But will it be in time to save Marcy?

Ex-Wife From Hell
I love a good SEAL romance and on the whole, I enjoyed this one! Lucas Shipley may be an ace SEAL able to make the correct decision when it can mean the difference between life or death, but when it comes to women he definitely skipped reading the book.
Lucas’ current situation consist of living in the equivalent of a SEAL frat house, sleeping on a couch and expecting a phone call any moment from his estranged wife Connie begging him to come back home, instead he gets served divorce paper and a call from his wife’s realtor Marcy Gelland who's tasked with liquidating their real estate, Marcy cooly requests his John Hancock on the dotted line.
When Marcy gets to know Lucas she discovers he’s nothing like the picture that Connie painted of him and when she and Lucas head up to Northern California, they end up in an ill-advised and poorly timed relationship.
When Lucas is summoned back to San Diego, he asks Marcy to retrieve some of his belongings from his remote cabin and a wrong turn close to a nearby terrorist training camp puts Marcy in the crosshairs of the terrorist organization. I really enjoyed the terrorist plotline in this story it was suspenseful, tense and kept my interest in the story high and that helped push this book to a 4-star rating.
What I didn’t like about the story was Lucas' soon to be ex-wife Connie’s character, she’s slightly unhinged and borderline abusive towards their child and it’s never adequately addressed by either Lucas or Marcy, in fact, I don’t recall there being any interaction in this story at all between Lucas and his child.
The production of Sharon Hamilton's audiobooks are always high-quality and J.D. Hart does an awesome job narrating, he really brings character and emotion to the story and his delivery is engaging in this 8-hour audiobook.

A Wonderful read!!!
Man has been writing for millions of years starting with crude paintings on cave walls. So how is it that Sharon Hamilton is always able to come up with such fresh stories? As always this is just my opinion but I seriously suggest reading/ listening to her other works and specifically this book.
The things that I loved about Rusty is that he is an everyday man. He has his strengths but he is also flawed. Above all else he isn't flawed with some dark secret. He's just a guy with a very demanding life. He works hard and when he can plays even harder. He can be a bit of an insensitive jerk but what man is absolute perfect?
Then there is Macy and what can I say about her? The poor woman gets sideswiped by this intense man. She wasn't looking for a guy and at first (like me) thought that Rusty was a bit of a jerk. She doesn't come from a military background so really has no experience with the way things are done and what is acceptable or not.
Then there is the storyteller JD Hart... The man is a masterful story tell not just a narrator because with his deep honeyed voice he really brings these characters to life!

Outstanding
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would always recommend one of Sharon's audio books to a friend. From a couple of reasons
One: Sharon writes amazing stories that will pull you into her world and keep you interested from start to finish
Two: her amazing narrator JD Hart. He is just brilliant in how he brings her books to life. I normally read the kindle version first then listen to the audio when it comes out. The way JD narrators it like getting a new story

Just all great as all his others
Any additional comments?

Just OK for me..
I have no idea why this book got the amount of 4 and 5 stars it did. The SEALS that live together seem only interested in strippers, getting drunk, and talking about all the kids they have around the world, illegitimate kids they neither care about nor support. And Lucas doesn’t seem to care about his 2 kids at all. All he seems to care about is getting back to his home, the one he was thrown out of by his wife, and getting back into her bed so she can take care of his erection. Then he meets Marcy and 3 days later he’s in love and asking her to marry him. He was just served with the divorce the day before. Really? We’re supposed to believe he and Marcy fell in love in 3 days’ time?
I kept reading because in-between the stupidity between Lucas, Marcy and Connie the author threw in a story about terrorists, and after reading 147 pages I was hoping she would get back to that soon. I was done with the main characters. And I can’t see myself reading anything else by this author, at least not her SEAL books, unless someone can promise me that the stories are not as silly as this one and the conversations are not as inane as they were in this. I might try her vampire books to see if they’re any better.
Anyway, it did get exciting at about 80%, when everything came to a head with the terrorists and once Marcy was saved. And speaking of Marcy she was one brave woman.
I really liked the other characters: Nick, Devon, Kyle, Jake, TJ, Luke, Rory, Alex, Cooper, Jackie, Fredo and Donna. I did hate Connie, and I really, really hated Moustafa, who got all that he deserved.
There were 2 or 3 sex scenes, without anything that led up to them and once they got back to Nick and Devon’s, after saving Marcy, the rest of the book was sex and the book ended at 95%.
There was swearing and the F-bomb was used 120 times.
As to the narrator: I’ve listened to J.D. Hart a few times and sometimes he reads with emotions and sometimes he doesn’t. He mostly did in this book but he really needs to work on the female voices. They are just too masculine.

Extremely Disappointed! Somewhat of a Cliffhanger!
The narration was ok, but the book was disappointing, so I don't think the narration would have been able to save it. I both read the ebook and listened to the Audiobook. I normally enjoy this author's work, but this book was truly not anything like I've read of hers before. The only things similar was the mention of some of Team 3, and then scoping out the terrorist camp. I felt like there were so many things not explained or left unfinished. I am still somewhat amazed at this book. According to the description of Marley's character, it was completely out of character for her to make that move with Lucas, especially after everything his soon to be ex-wife did and said. We won't even get into her interactions with Lucas' wife. I don't know why it was even mentioned that Connie and Lucas had children. Connie seemed to see them as a burden, and Lucas did not appear to have any involvement with them. She spent her time being bitter and angry, dragging the poor kids around, and he behaved like he had no kids at all and no thought regarding them in his future. I kept expecting to read that it was discovered they weren't his kids at all. Marley is told to be careful from not one, but TWO Navy SEALS, and what does she do but ignore their warnings. When her job is on the line, Marley is so determined to tell the truth (after Lucas warned her not to) because it goes against her character. But falling into instalove with a married man doesn't go against her beliefs. I initially disliked Lucas. Then he seemed to get better. Then he was an idiot again. Then he got better. As long as he was performing his job, he was ok. Then there was a whole different storyline with this woman Donna. What purpose did it serve? The conversation she had with Lucas was like some kind code speak. What were we supposed to get out of it? After everything that happened to Marley, there was no hesitation, no trauma, no residual effects for her to deal with from what I perceived to be a traumatic ordeal? She just moved right along with Lucas like none of the prior issues existed. Unreal! Also, this was not a complete HEA, so it seemed like it was a minimum, a partial cliffhanger. At least the idiot woman realized there was one major obstacle in there way. There was no resolution in this book. I could go on and on, but then I would have to do spoiler alerts and I have been disappointed enough by this book.

Great read!
I had a love/hate relationship with Lucas. He could really be an idiot sometimes. The plot was interesting and realistic. It’s what I come to expect from Sharon Hamilton. The storyline flowed smoothly throughout. It was great to be reunited with some of my favorite characters from her previous books. J.D. Hart is an amazing narrator. His voice is smooth and easy to listen to. Can’t wait to listen to more of his books.

OOOO LORD THAT EX WIFE!
Poor Lucas, seems like the good ones always marry the nut jobs. But Lucas handled it pretty well, I think. And Marcy, although she couldn't resist Lucas, was just what he needed. Someone that was smart and sensible. Sharon's description of what the Seal's mission entails are always edge of your seat descriptions. But the love of how the Seal's love their women just takes my breath away.
