About this listen
The last place Sophia Lancaster wanted to return to was Poplar Falls. It's the place that holds all the painful memories and unanswered questions she's ever had. One phone call causes her life to take a turn, forcing her back to the town she hasn't stepped foot in in over 20 years.
And right into the path of Braxton Young.
His blue eyes, sinful smile, and rough exterior are no match for Sophia. She's there for one reason, and it isn't to fall in love. The sooner she can get out of this small town and back in New York City - the better.
However, fate doesn't care for either of their desires. Instead, they're forced to deal with each other, finding their differences aren't as great as they thought. Each day brings them closer to friendship and the possibility of something more. The answers she seeks might not only break her and Braxton apart but also her heart.

This was such a cute small town romance and I had a really good time listening to this. It felt similar to Rootbound by Tarah Dewitt which I loved.
Sophia returns to her home right for her grandmother's funeral but she's been asked to stay a bit longer until the will is read. There is immediate tension between her and Brax which of course creates a fun dynamic between the two. Eventually she starts to fall in love with being in the town, working on the family ranch and reconnecting with her family and friends.
I love a romance with angst and this had that, these two hated each other but were so purely attracted to each other. I will say I felt like I didn't feel their romantic connection was very strong but this is a short book so that is to be expected. I really enjoyed all the side characters there was so many cute funny moments with everyone involved. When the truth about why Sophia left came out she did forgive her mum quite quickly but I feel like that is warranted. This is a great book that shows flawed and human parents really are, I think as children we think that parents are perfect but they never truely are.
Tropes: small town, hate to love, opposites attract, nicknames (princess)
Triggers: family drama, loss of a loved one
A fun time
