Everything you need to know to begin working with runes.

The enigmatic nature of the runes is undeniable. But what are runes, exactly?

In Runes for Beginners, best-selling author Lisa Chamberlain shines the light on these ancient symbols, showing you how to discover and utilize their unique magical energies. With both an eye toward tradition and a multicultural spirit, Lisa combines an appreciation for the Germanic roots of the runes with a more eclectic Neopagan approach.

  • The history of the runes and their role within the framework of the Germanic magical worldview
  • The origins of runic wisdom in Norse mythology

  • How to make your own runes
  • Instructions for traditional rune-casting as well as contemporary rune spreads
  • Tips for successful divination
  • The divinatory meanings and magical uses of each rune in the Elder Futhark

Good content, harsh narration

I was really happy with the content of this book. Pleasantly surprised. The reader sounded like an annoyed teacher working beyond retirement. If you can learn to live with this kind of delivery, you’ll learn a lot. I’m definitely going to buy the hard copy for quick references. I do appreciate someone taking the time to narrate. I just wish these books came with choice of narrator.

A very helpful guide

This is a very helpful guide for Beginners in northern Mythology. I also enjoyed the voice of Kris Keppeler. I tried similar books and the voices were just annoying. Thank you.

inaccurate

the book is filled with inaccurate information and the reading is full of mispronunciations. also the blank rune /wasn't/ "popularized" by Ralph Blume, he made it up entirely himself.

Good book but narration is more like shouting!!

Good book but the narration is hard to listen to. Feels like someone shouting at you!!! Would be much more enjoyable with better narration. Other than the shouty narration, the book is good.

Very enjoyable and useful book

Very good introduction to the Elder Futhark Runes. I read this Audible book in conjunction with the Kindle book version. Loved the narrator's voice and enthusiasm.
