Publisher's Summary

Londyn McCormack didn't have a typical childhood. She ran away from home at 16, escaping parents more interested in drugs than their daughter. She doesn't have loving siblings or an adorable pet. Her only family is the five other runaway kids who shared her junkyard home.

Life pulled them all in separate directions, taking her to Boston. For a short time, she thought she'd found something permanent. But after a devastating divorce, she's running away again, this time to find a lost friend.

She's driving across the country in her convertible. As a teenager, the rusty car was her shelter. As an adult, it's her ride to freedom.

Except one flat tire derails her trip. Her life collides with Brooks Cohen. They walked away from the first crash. The second might destroy them both.

This book ran away with my heart!!!

This book was refreshing!! Devney creates worlds that pull you in from the first page, and keeps you hanging on until the very last sentence. Londyn is looking for purpose, meaning, and peace. This one statement explains Londyn completely....I was free. I was alone. I was lost. And it was beautiful. Brooks was an awesome hero. He was sweet, gentle, and total swoon worthy. This was not just a book, it was a journey!!!
I enjoyed this journey down Runaway Road, and I cannot wait for the next book! The narration was amazing!!!

Another winner

I don't think there is a book by this author that I haven't loved. In the beginning I was annoyed with London cause why would she leave when she found something good.
But she had to go through leaving to realize that she found her home.
I can't wait for the next book in this series💖

Just beautiful.

This is such a sweet and fun story. Brooks & Londyn are absolutely adorable, I just love a southern gentleman, Brooks has all the qualities I love in my book boyfriend. He’s sweet, kind, respectful and he adores Londyn. Londyn, proceeds with caution because of her upbringing but she finally finds what she longs for. Londyn found her home with Brooks.

Amazing highway listen

Maxine Mitchell and Jason Clarke do a fabulous job of narrating the story of Londyn and Brooks

Londyn and Brooks’ love story and their odyssey is so unique! I was hooked from the first chapter. The writing is fresh and the story is engaging immediately. You are riding with these folks. The way Perry has written this book, the potential for more stories is endless. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Take Me Home, Country Roads!!!

Goodness, Devney Perry does it again and again! I spent a good 20 years of my life in the great state of West Virginia and she totally painted that visual with just her words and some fabulous narration. I felt the stifling heat and the crickets in the evening. More than that though, I felt the sweet charm of a small town in the south. where everyone's your neighbor and family. Mrs. Perry just creates that all over.

Then we have the fabulous Brooks and Lyndon. These two old souls, I think that Cadillac took over driving and put Lyndon right in Brooks' lane! There's something so... fun about starting over like Lyndon does. She's on the search for something more and she finds that more, so much more!!

Loved the sweet purity to the story. They made me smile and laugh, they made me feel wistful and tearful, but in the end, it was nothing but peaceful ♡♡♡

Finding yourself on the road less traveled

Beautiful story. 6 runaways...this is the story of one. Londyn ran away from her drug addicted parents when she was 16yo. She spent some time living in an old Cadillac at a junk yard, then she found her way to Boston. There she met and married her boss. Now several years later, and freshly divorced, Londyn decides to leave Boston behind and head back to California to find the boy who introduced her to the car. She didn’t count on the freak accident just outside of Summers, WV that would introduce her to garage owner, Brookes Cohen. Can Brookes and the friendly ppl of Summers convince Londyn that she needs to stay?
Cute story, great narration. Looking forward to the next book!

Sexy mechanic :)

This book was a great beginning of a new series by this fantastic author. I was instantly swooning over sexy mechanic Brooks Cohen. London McCormack had definitely been through a lot in her childhood and even as a married woman. Ending up in small town in West Virginia may have not been intentional, but it completely changed her life. I am looking forward to her bestie Gemma's book next. I enjoyed the narration done by Maxine Mitchell and Jason Clarke.

Jason Clarke. Nuff said.

The story was a tad cliche. Lost soul searching for a new life who meets what could be the man of her dreams by mere chance... but hey, that's to be expected. It's a romance novel. That being said, it was relatively well written, had cute side characters and one or two villains (for lack of a better term).

But what really made it a win was Jason Clarke. There's just something about his voice that grabs hold of you and doesn't let go. It seemed a bit raspier than usual and I don't know if that was by design, and don't really care. The man could literally read anything and I'd melt. Ohh, the money I would pay to have him voice my Alexa......

Maxine Mitchell, on the other hand, was the only negative in this scenario. Don't get me wrong, she did a great job reading Londyn. But Brooks' dialogue, not so much. Sounded so ridiculous that it completely disengaged me from the story.

Worth the credit? For me, anything with Jason Clarke is credit worthy. But it was rather short and a tad predictable. I wish it had been part of the Romance Package.

A hot romance that is perfect for a roadtrip

I always love when Devney Perry starts a new series, I think I know what to expect, then she smashes all my expectations to smithereens in the very best ways possible.
Runaway Road is the story of Londyn McCormack, who at the age of sixteen ran away from a home without food, money or love but filled with addiction. She lands at a junk yard with 5 others, and shares her home (a '64 cherry red Cadillac) with her teenage boyfriend Kayson. Though we don't start the story there, Londyn's journey begins much later in life, after a failed marriage leaves her feeling ready to run away again, to tackle the open road across country from Boston to California in the very same car that was her teenage home. Londyn spent a lot of money having the car updated and restored, to pass on to Kayson so he can feel the joy she has, relieving the happiest days of her youth.
When a lapse in concentration leads her to end up hitting the guard rail along the side of the road, Londyn’s travel plans are put on hold whilst she’s towed to the closest town for repairs. On the plus side, the mechanic that comes to her rescue is the hot as sin Brooks Cohen, someone she is happy to spend a few nights getting to know in bed, but the plan is always to leave. After her plans are derailed further when her newly repaired car is vandalised just as she’s ready to go, the pair get closer and closer and the small town begins to feel like home.

As with all Devney’s books, the writing is outstanding, you are thrown into the action from the first word and obsessed by the end of the first page. She manages to weave a story that can relate to everyone in someway or another and endears you to all her characters without you realising, leaving you desperate for more and heartbroken once it’s over.

A phenomenal start to the new series, I can’t wait for Gemma’s story in Wild Highway, or any of the others that are still to come. Again, with every DP book, I can’t recommend this enough. Everyone needs to grab a copy and devour Runaway Road.
