Story
This book is not just about how I got back on my horse and went clippity-clop all the way to the World Cup final in Japan. It's the story of how a fat kid who had to live up to the nickname Psycho grew up to play (and party) for over a decade with rugby's greatest pros. From just about surviving the equivalent of 30 car crashes a game and crooning Adele for team spirit, to extensive field notes on the smell of the Scrum and the fine art of on-pitch relief. Then there's rugby's secret naked wrestling scene and how it was exposed. In my world, you never know how the ball will bounce.

Story
There have been many comments made and books written about Siya Kolisi, captain of the Springboks, and the first Black man to lead his country in more than 128 years of South African rugby. But now, for the very first time, Siya Kolisi shares his story in an extraordinarily intimate memoir, charting his journey from being born into the impoverished Zwide township, to leading his proud nation to an astonishing victory at the Rugby World Cup in 2019.

Publisher's Summary
The side-splittingly hilarious new book from Sunday Times best-selling author, rugby icon and stag do in human form James Haskell.
It’s 2021, and James is at a crossroads. His glittering international rugby career that took him from England to New Zealand and France - including 77 caps for England - is over. What will he do now? What is his purpose in life?
In Ruck Me!, James sets out on a voyage of self-discovery speaking to ex-colleagues, friends and family, reflecting on his career and diving into some of his most memorable personal anecdotes to date. But what started out as a search for understanding and meaning soon turns into a - let’s face it, sometimes warranted - chastisement opportunity with James directly in the firing line. Turns out he has a lot of work to do....
As funny as it is outrageous, this brilliant book acts as a lesson on how (not) to retire gracefully and move forward. And ruck me - you won’t want to miss it.

Sequel Syndrome
After literally pissing myself laughing at What a Flanker, I was hoping for more. Be careful what you wish for, because that's what you get with Ruck Me. Suffering from Sequel Syndrome, if I'd listened to Ruck Me first, then WAF might have been the more tedious. I found the Chapter opening quotes from James' besties, read by James , a bit awkward and cringey but otherwise it's a playful romp with the big fella, which also sounds awkward.

Letting off frustration and peer reviewing himself
Absolutely loved the first book, some great stories and a fantastic insight into James’ life and the social side of professional rugby. Was really excited for this one but after soldiering through, giving up and giving it another go I’m really not enjoying it. Reviewing others reviews of himself while whining and moaning about the world. Seems like a good therapy sessions for him but really not that fun for the listener, Disappointed that it wasn’t more of the same of the first book. Will stick to the podcast for now. If you want an insight of what others think of Haskell get this book, if not give it a miss.
