Publisher's Summary

From bestselling author Sariah Wilson comes a charming romance about living your life one dream at a time.

Madison Huntington is determined to live her dreams. That means getting out from under her family’s wealth and influence by saying no to the family business, her allowance, and her home. But on a teacher’s salary, the real world comes as a rude awakening - especially when she wakes up every morning on a colleague’s couch. To get a place of her own (without cockroaches, mold, or crime scene tape), Madison accepts a position as a roommaid. In exchange for free room and board, all she needs to do is keep her busy roommate’s penthouse clean and his dog company. So what if she’s never washed a dish in her life. She can figure this out, right?

Madison is pretty confident she can fake it well enough that Tyler Roth will never know the difference. The finance whiz is rich and privileged and navigates the same social circles as her parents - but to him she’s just a teacher in need of an apartment. He’s everything Madison has run from, but his kindhearted nature, stomach-fluttering smile, and unexpected insecurities only make her want to get closer. And Tyler is warming to the move.

Rewarding job. Perfect guy. Great future. With everything so right, what could go wrong? Madison is about to find out.

Worst narration ever

The woman reading this book ruined it for me. I didn’t make it past the first chapter. She sounds like a very aggressive, very very bad news reporter. Too fast, too breathy. Awful.

Light and Sweet. Not my favourite narration

3/5 stars Room-maid is a light, sweet and fun story. The plot provides low angst and was enjoyable for the most part, however there were parts of the story and characters I struggled to connect with. Madison grew up wealthy but didn't really feel she fit into that world. She dreamed of becoming a teacher and making it on her own and when she makes that dream a reality she is cut off by her family. She ends up in a roommate/maid situation with Tyler. I wasn’t sure what to think about Tyler at first. I did warm up to him about half way through however I felt his character was a little under developed. With the forced proximity the romance was sweet but predictable. I struggled with the narrator chosen. Her voice wasn’t the right fit for this character in my opinion. A different narrator may have made this a more enjoyable listening experience.

I don’t get the good reviews....

I don’t want to go on and on with a negative review, so I’ll just say I agree with a couple other reviewers—the narration was so whiny and stilted that it was nearly unbearable. While perhaps the story would have been better if I’d read it, the main character seemed very immature, flat, and unappealing. I bailed about 70% through, which is not easy for me to do.

Thoroughly Enjoyable and Sweet Romance

I really enjoyed this sweet romance. The heroine stands up to her wealthy and manipulative family to strike out on her own, without their money and support. She grows as a person and through that inspires those around her, to be strong and follow their passions. That means coming to terms with her family's expectations, cutting loose her serial cheater of a boyfriend, and developing a strong friendship with her mouth wateringly hot roommate. He is trying to overcome his own childhood issues by having a lot of money, the right job, the right home, and the right social network, all things our heroine has rejected. Nonetheless, between her initial attraction and their growing closeness, she can't help falling for him. She tries to respect the boundaries he's set, that he is not interested in anything more than being roommates and friends, especially since no one in her own life has ever respected her boundaries. Now she just has to figure out what to do about her feelings for him. I liked this different twist on the roommates to lovers trope. It isn't the most substantial of stories, but is a nice, light read and the characters show good personal growth. The narrator bothered me a little at first, as she's a little bit overly bright and ran with her sentences a bit, but as the book went on, I didn't mind so much. Her male voices aren't terribly male, but were enough of a distinction that it was ok. The narration didn't prevent me from enjoying the book.

Fun story. Hated the narration

I just can’t stand the way she reads. It’s so whiny and sounds fake. Wish I’d read it instead of listened.

Hysterical

This book had me laughing out loud throughout the book. It reminded me of the Janet Evanovich books I have read. I loved this book!

cute

I thought this was a cute story however I thought the narration could have been better. The first few chapters of this book the narrator sounded frantic that it was almost nerve-wracking to listen to; with that said, after she had it out with Brad at her parents house the franticness went away only to return occasionally, in all fairness though I think Madison is a high-strung character so maybe the narrator was just in character. My second issue was that there was absolutely no difference between all the female voices.
