Publisher's Summary

Written with her trademark deadpan humour, Urzila's memoir is full of great stories about both the big things in life and the little things.

Urzila's accidental beginning in stand-up has led to an incredibly successful career in comedy, with regular gigs on television as well as sell-out shows in comedy festivals across New Zealand and Australia.

But life hasn't always been a bundle of laughs. Urzila talks candidly about her childhood with a great family, apart from her abusive dad, and about growing up in South Africa. She shares crazy but true tales about her OE, her move to New Zealand, coming out, getting married and having children, and her life in comedy.

This is a great listen from one of our most loved and most popular comedians.

Love Urzila

I loved Urzila's story. It's inspiring on so many levels--from learning about life in South Africa to starting a new life in NZ, the way she got into stand up, finding love and starting a family--and laugh out loud funny, which is just what I needed. Chapter 21. Oh my God 😂😂😂 I also cried in parts. It's a wonderful listen. You have to listen 🙌 thank you for sharing your story 🙏

Cant wait for the cricket game in the park.

Glad I got the audio because her voice, accent and delivery is more than half the enjoyment. Urzila has the enviable talent of being funny, vulnerable, smart and making you think she could be your best mate.

So much love

I absolutely loved this story. The ups and downs, I cried and laughed out loud. Highly Recommended this for a lighthearted but truthful tug at the heart strings read.

You MUST hear this!

Urzila a story is incredible! Funny as hell! She is a dynamic, epically skilled writer who leads you down the journey of the first few legs of her life from South Africa to New Zealand. Her comedy is so damn hood!

Glad I heard this rather than read it

I couldn't have imagined how some of the Afrikaans words and names should sound so glad I heard them from Urzila, although she didnt sound as relaxed as she appears on stage. A fascinating story that taught me a lot about countries I haven't visited and lives so very different from mine.
