Publisher's Summary

Katelyn Jacks was used to being front and center as a model. But she never had to confront the Keeneston Grapevine! After retiring from the runway and returning to town to open a new animal clinic, Katelyn found that her life in the public eye was anything but over. While working hard to establish herself as the new veterinarian in town, Katelyn finds her life uprooted by a storm of love, gossip, and a vicious group of criminals.

Marshall Davies is the new Sheriff in Keeneston. He is also right at the top of the town's most eligible bachelor list. His affinity for teasing the hot new veterinarian in town has led to a rush of emotions that he wasn't ready for. Marshall finds his easy days of breaking up fights at the local PTA meetings are over when he and Katelyn discover that a dog-fighting ring has stormed into their normally idyllic town.

As their love struggles to break through, they must battle to save the lives of the dogs and each other.

Rising Storm

I adored this book, I loved how funny it was but also how serious it can be. Marshall is the Sheriff and has to deal with a lot. So when he thought he had a good thing and turns out Katelyn kind of runs away. Well, then he wasn’t sure what to expect. I loved the connection and the wit oh the wit really kept me interested the Belles lordy be they are the grandmothers you want because they keep it real. Just a good filler book for me I needed something light and this was exactly that. I loved, loved Eric’s performance he is a favorite of mine!

Interesting series

First Eric G Dove is one of my favorite narrators. He has a voice made for story telling and has the ability to do a variety of voices. This story is rather fun and made me laugh many times. It had just the right amount of romance. It did address the brutality of dog fighting so be prepared for some sickening descriptions. It really hit home for me about how we all make assumptions about people based on stereotypes. A good read!

Suspense, romance, very good narration

This is Marshall and Katelyn's story. There is the tough subject of dog fighting in the book but not too extensively. The story has lots of suspense, some great excitement, and some small town fun. The narration is very good. Love the characters! And the humor.

Marshall and the Model

Katlyn Jacks had opened a state of the art veterinary clinic. She had no idea what Marshal, the town sheriff, has against her but he treats her like a bimbo. When Ahmed finds a dog with injuries fro a fight, they start searching for the international dog fight ring in the area. Tense and romantic story and performance was marvelous. Recommend.

Struggling Shyness

Two people who had all the chemistry and emotions kept getting tripped up. Love that the man finally realized he just had to say the words in front of a audience that he loved his girl. The narration was wonderful. The voices made the characters come alive.

Who knew there was so much criminal activity in small towns. We are introduced to some more of the residents of Keeneston, KY. They do blend in well with the rest of the citizens, at least some of them do. Dog racing is the current scandal and as evidenced by all the dogs they are well loved overall. So, who would do something so atrocious?

Love will find a way

I like Brooks' writing. It is easy to read and have great characters. The love/hate relationship here is amusing and the inherent threat of physical harm from the outside will keep you on the edge of your seat till the end.
Marshall is such a darling and Ahmed's kind heart makes me wish he finds love and redemption. Brooks has also laid the foundation for the next book by weaving hints into this story.
What I really liked about the ending was the way we were kept in suspense till the very end before revealing the identity of the 'inside' influence. I was surprised by their identity.
I can't wait for the next book.
