Publisher's Summary

Tom Ripley is now the owner of a beautiful estate in France, a wealthy art collector and married to an heiress.

The Buckmaster Gallery is staging an exhibition by the celebrated artist Derwatt, but an American collector claims that the expensive masterpiece he bought three years ago is a fake. It is, of course, and he wants to talk to Derwatt - but Derwatt, inconveniently, is dead. Ripley needs the perfect solution to keep his role in the fraud a secret and his reputation clean, but not everyone's nerves are as steady as his. Especially when it comes to murder.

Ripley Under Ground is an ingenious audiobook of masks and identity, illusion and reality, and is followed by Ripley's Game, The Boy Who Followed Ripley and Ripley Under Water.

Good story.

It felt like the ending was a bit rushed but other wise a good story.

Disappointingly pedestrian for Highsmith

I enjoy Patricia Highsmith's writing and loved The Talented Mr Ripley, but this was utterly disappointing and boring, frankly. There was no well crafted suspense or any real sense of peril, as one might expect for Highsmith. it moved along slowly, with very little occurring. This is no reflection on the narrator, who did a good job with the material in front of him. I felt that this was a waste of time.

Plot full of holes

It is rumoured that Pat spent most of her waking hours drunk, to one degree or another . This book seems to confirm a muddled disjointed approach to plot and story line with plot holes so big you could drive a bus through them , some of it is brilliant , some of it terrible , a real disappointment. I have seen all the films , this is the first of the TR books I have read , the screen writers must have had to work very hard editing the 2 best known books made into movies to make sense of them .

Murder Most Mundane

I bought this despite having read"you hope it's going to get better but it doesn't" in the reviews. I rarely review books but feel I must make an exception for this tedious stinker! The narrator, however, is competent and blameless!

Hooked on Highsmith

Another excellent volume in the Ripley series. Quite a different novel to the first in the series, but again wonderfully enjoyable and very well narrated. I have already downloaded volume three "Ripley's game".

Excellent Book and Stunning Narrator

Patricia Highsmith's Ripley books are all excellent and Adam Sims certainly brings this one to life.

His accents are very, very good and his pace is simply superb. It's such a shame he is not the narrator for the entire series.

Highly recommended

Disappointing sequel...

There is nothing worse than not wanting to finish a book, but I was always hoping this would get better, unfortunately it never did.
unbelievable plot and unconvincing characters made this such a disappointment after what was such a fantastic first book in the series.

Very disappointing

Well narrated. Starts well ... Rambling, disappointing ending. It felt like a waste of time, having listened to it.
