About this listen

When two operatives go dark in Tampa, chasing the trail of an oligarch with ties to the demonic underworld, Vigilant Lock - the nation’s first and last line of defense against occult attack - sends their best to the rescue: Harmony Black, a troubled investigator and an elemental witch with a keen but tangled mind; and her partner Jessie Temple, the daughter of a supernatural slasher and the inheritor of her father’s powers.

The trail of clues leads them to the doorstep of Judah Cranston, a wealthy scientist with dark secrets and a darker agenda. Toss in an alluring marine biologist with eyes for Harmony, and a pair of demon-blooded troubleshooters on a hunt of their own, and Tampa Bay is heating up fast. As the mission takes Harmony and Jessie from the sun-drenched Florida coast to a gloomy New England fishing town steeped in forgotten history, they find themselves up against a threat far greater - and more otherworldly - than they ever expected.

hand to hand demon or Gen Z king of tech. She gives distinct voices, authentic charm and the special kind of crazy Vigilant Lock demands of it's agents. Ms. Temple, Derma, Kevin's rambling, April Cassidy's brogue , and Caitlyns Scottish vatiety all stretch this 9/10 story, near impossible to perform, BUT PERFORM SHE DOES. Heartfelt, technically flawless and instantly the sound I hear whenever a Craig Schaeffer character may take up residence in n my head and coming though as effortless. Nix and Nadine is a feather in the cap worth an award. I've decided to follow this crew for as long as they have stories to be told.

I love the new Narrator and Viva la Vigilant Lock

Ugghhh, I hate it when they swap narrators this far into a series. While the new narrator is definitely not bad, I like Christina better and I really hope they get her back for the next one. The biggest issue I had was that the difference between Harmony and Jesse now so small most of the time I couldn't tell which of them was talking until it said who was speaking at the end of the sentence, and Jesse just felt like a different character to before. I also prefer listening to first person rather than third person as this latest book is written. The story though was great, so I probably would have enjoyed it more if I read it instead of listened, but I have no time for that.
