Editorial reviews
Dave Luckett's series The Rhianna Chronicles, for ages 9-12, is billed as "Harry Potter for girls". In the first book of the series (called The Girl, the Dragon, and the Wild Magic in the United States), the award-winning Australian children's writer introduces his heroine as she's poised on the verge of failing out of her "school for magic". But soon Rhianna discovers that her powers exceed those of her classmates and she must test them against a dragon.
Voice actress Mikaela Martin performs the entire fantasy series with equal parts action and emotion. She must have access to a narration spellbook, for her delivery is pitch-perfect.
