very enjoyable ride

Any additional comments?

This is a three book saga and kept me interested. It is well written and a fun ride. Emily is tough, fun and someone you want around at the end of the world. our narrator Emily Beresford does an excellent job. Enjoy this three book story as one long ride, it is worth it.

Completely Terrible. Fails on every level.

This is one of a very few books, less than 1%, that I've regretted bothering with. This installment features a British naval crew who supposed to be elite special forces, a submarine, and a space station crew -- yet the author clearly didn't bother to do any research into how any of those things operate or what they can do. Monsters are introduced in one scene and ignored the rest of the book. The ending is so trite and worn out that I saw it coming hours and hours ahead. I'm tempted to write it here just to warn anyone over the age of about 12 away from this book, but spoilers are bad form so I'll just stick to saying "I told you so" to anyone foolish enough to bother.

The series - 2.8 books too long

This series was a super yawn fest. At times, I skipped entire chapters, as nothing of importance was missed. The best of the series was the epilogue in this Book 3. Listen to that and be done with it.

Very suitable ending for a fantastic series

I struggled a little to adjust to the new situations in this last book of the series, as it went from having very few human characters to adding a whole float of them, and from having invaders that are mostly the vegetable and insect kind to more intelligent and insidious creatures. Yet, the ultimate, unifying theme is evolution, and how, if the human race is to persevere in a new adverse environment, we would need to evolve and adapt, rather than fight and try to retain the old world. The more you fight evolution, the more likely is your demise. The ending gave me goosebumps. Excellent storytelling to the very end.

Very interesting book

Where does Revelations rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This books ranks in the top 20% of my reads.

What did you like best about this story?

It's a creative and thought out version of the alien take-over story.

Have you listened to any of Emily Beresford’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first time I have listened to Emily Beresford and I would definitely listen to more of her performances.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This book was suspenseful at times but would be good to listen to at one time.

Any additional comments?

The only thing I did not like about this book was the repetitive us of some phrases. "Tell Tell" "Sing Song" "Find Purchase". These phrases were just used too many times in the books. Other than that, this series was very good.

Great Series!

I enjoyed book 3 just as much as book 1 and 2.

This series is not about an apocalyptic event it's a story about a single character trying to find and connect with other survivors after the apocalypse that happens in the beginning of the first book.

Also, (huzaa!) the first 3 books in the series do not fall into that trap of turning humanity into vicious short-sighted power grabbing rapist idiots. The main character is an average jill/ bicycling enthusiast (i guess). Not a military genius, or a super scientist, or the most beautiful woman in the wold silliness. Also (another huzaa!) no male character shows that knocks her into a supporting role, Very rare in this genera.

This series is a fun read and the story moves along at a pretty good clip. Don't get bogged down by plausibility and worrying about geopolitical details just sit back and enjoy the story.

It's worth noting that The first 3 books are so consistent in story line, time line, and characters that they really read as one long very enjoyable book. Well worth the credits.

Good story, sub-par narration.

this narrator could benefit from both a voice and accent coach. worst Scottish accent ever.

Enjoyable

Good story. Narration good for first two books but the last book was painful to listen to !
The attempt at Scottish accent was truly dreadful and spoiled a good little story . I ended up giving up the audio and reading last book on my kindle.

execrable narration

Having spent some time listening to several series with tremendous narration, I needed to have a break from paying for credits. Post Christmas and all that. I have kindle unlimited and my sister suggested this series to tide me over. The first two were fine - not amazing, with rather clunky writing in places, but I wanted to keep listening at least. This book has finished me off. The accents are just so, so bad, its making the book unendurable. The English changes every phrase, the Scottish one is laughably bad and the Welsh one is unrecognisable. If she hadn't said he was Welsh we would never have known. I'll finish this book, but I think I'll have to throw in the towel for the rest of the series. I'll pay up so I can carry on with the Dresden files, where the narration is so good it makes it better than when I read the books the first time.

War of the worlds knock off!

Why do Americans feel the need to butcher the British accents! I’d rather they had stuck to their own accent than ruin the Scottish and Welsh accents.

Storyline is ok, but very padded out and could have made one book rather than 3! However it killed some time.

Overall not my best purchase, but far from my worst! Has some very obvious nods to war of the worlds, in fact the whole time I was waiting for names like ‘Nathanial’ to appear and references like ‘star child’. So in conclusion if you like war of the worlds be warned this is a cheap rip off!

great story but poor narration

As the last book in the trilogy i really enjoyed the story however the narrator's attempts at English and Scottish accents was so woeful, it was off-putting. I could actually feel myself cringeing at the shockingly bad Scottish accent which would not have been so distracting had the accent not belonged to a main character. The narrator's own American accent would have been better than this horrendously mispronounced attempt at a Scottish dialect. (Hint - "reporting for dooty" is never going to be a British pononunciation of duty (jooty) no matter how many Rs are rolled in the preceding words.)

A mediocre Storyline with appauling narration

This was included in Amazon's Kindle Unlimited, as such was "free". DO NOT WASTE A CREDIT ON THIS.

I just wasted around 9 hours of my life. I could put up with the story, but the accents made this TRULY AWFUL.

I did laugh out loud at times though - being Scottish, living in Wales, I do have the occasional put on accent from colleagues at work (Hey Yooo Jimmy, etc, etc) so am used to really rubbish accents, .. BUT, this narrator brings this to a new level. Really. I can't bang on enough about it. As it's the 3rd book, you've already made up your mind about the story. It's not the best but fine for running / cycling - not too much thought required really and very predictable.

The accents will haunt me forever!

Poor in comparison to the first 2 books.

A turgid and padded storyline with mostly unintelligent dialogue. The narrator's accents are appalling, making all English characters sound like either Mary Poppins or Dick van Dyke. And I swear the story's Scottish character sounds more like Sven the Viking than Billy Connoly. One to miss.

Lked the story, terrible accents

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I've enjoyed the story line in this series, never been predictable!

What didn’t you like about Emily Beresford’s performance?

The narrator can't do a Scottish accent, which is a shame given one of the main characters is Scottish. He had some Scottish moments, mixed with Indian and Welsh at times!
