Publisher's Summary
From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Susan Stoker comes a new story in her Delta Force Heroes series....
After years of estrangement, Mercedes Laughlin has finally reconciled with her older brother. It should be the happiest time of her life, getting to know Truck and his new wife...and it would be, if an ex wasn’t causing her trouble. Add in Truck’s boss, Colonel Colton Robinson, an amazingly distracting man whom she met under embarrassing circumstances, and Macie’s got a bit more on her plate than she can handle.
From the moment they met, Colt was fascinated by Macie, and helping her through an anxiety attack at her brother’s wedding didn’t diminish the appeal. He’d do his best to sweep her off her feet, if not for a little voice telling him to tread lightly - until a frantic phone call changes the plan. Macie’s being targeted, and Colt’s determined to keep her safe while he and her brother eliminate the threat.
Colt isn’t about to let his friend lose his sister again so soon...or miss his own chance at a happy ending with Macie before they’ve barely had a beginning.

To climb like a tree
I never expected to learn such expression from a book. I was very surprised by it and did not regret an instant. e Yes, it is a bit cliché for the overprotectiveness but sometimes, it doesn't hurt. The main lady is very fun and the narrator did a great job portraying her. I would recommend it if you are looking for an easy story that will make you laugh or chuckle.

It was a cute short story
Macy has severe anxiety and just living her life is stressful but she’s been able to manage it. She’s missed Truck for the past 10+ years and is finally happy that they’ve been able to reconnect. It’s unfortunate that she finds herself in danger just when she reconnects with brother. Thank God Colt, the Colonel, is there to help her, calm her, and protect her. Colt has been infatuated with Macy since he met her. He knows about her anxiety and isn’t put off by it. When he finds her scared and running from danger, he immediately vows to protect her. They had one night of togetherness and he wants more. Once he gets rid of the danger, he will surely make her his. This was a good story, I wish we had some more information or maybe explanation. Macy has severe anxiety- since Truck wasn’t aware of it, did she develop this after their falling out? Was it a result of her parents treatment? Who is this hacker friend who’s been keeping in contact with her with info about Truck? These are minor things that I thought would have added more to the story, but I understand you can’t include everything in a short story. At least the Colonel got his HEA.

Another winner!
I love love love all of Susan Stoker’s Army Delta Force books (and her Navy Seal protection heroes), and this is no exception. I adore the strong, protective heroes, and the equally strong women they love and protect. I also love that her heroines are “flawed” in some way, meaning they aren’t movie star ideals of feminine beauty, but are real in a way any reader can identify with, and recognize strengths they might not have previously realized in themselves. And Stella Bloom is one of my top favorite narrators; she’s amazing, and makes the stories even more riveting. Do yourself a favor, and read (listen to) the entire series. They’re all stand-alones, with their own HEA.

A sweet novella
This is a Delta Force Heroes quickie!😊 I have listened to a couple of the others, but I particularly appreciated this one as it dealt with someone dealing with panic attacks on a regular basis. Also, it touched on how our soldiers feel when they loose teammates, and what they would do for each other. Wonderful, Poignant story!

Another wonderful story!!!
Susan Stoker did an amazing job with this story!!! This novella size book did NOT seem like a novella, but an actual full length book. Like all of this authors stories, it is action packed and is a total page turner. This makes it end way to quickly. The narrator, Stella Bloom did a great job on this story, like she usually does. This is Macie and Colts book. Colt is the Delta Force commander. We get to see both teams, although we see the newer team more than the older one. Mainly, because Truck would lose his crap if he was in on the op to rescue Macie. Macie has anxiety, and a grumpy exboyfriend. He starts stuff with her, and she stays with the commander for safety reasons...or is it? *wink wink* Her ex gets her, and the delta force rescues her. The entire story is just wonderful!! You HAVE to read this story!! You will NOT be disappointed!!

Great characters and narration
I love the characters in this book. They are so well shown through the words. I like that Macie's anxiety disorder is shown without making her sound like she's defective. The suspense is good. The narration is very good. As always with these books, I do not like the graphic sex.

Loved Cole and Macie
Colt and Macie are darling. They have a 10-year age gap and Macie manages an anxiety disorder (this is not a spoiler since we know this from the last book). As with all of Stoker’s kickass heroines Macie is smart and clever. Colt is attentive and perfect with Macie. The action is believable and the novel flows beautifully. Stella Bloom is wonderful in narrating voices. HIGHLY recommended!!

I’m so glad we got to see more of Truck’s sister, Macie. The poor girl is a basket full of emotions and you never know if it’s gonna be a good day or not but she’s completely love able! Her back story is heart wrenching at times but she’s managed to over come some of the heartache. With the hep of the men and women around her, she’ll get better and better. I look forward to maybe more about them all in the next series.

I loved the relationship between Colt and Macie . He gives her strength and support she needs and her love in him gives him the peace he so needs. Macie has anxiety/panic attacks , which is dealt with beautifully, her struggles don't make her weak, while Colt is a great character . I love the that Truck and Macie find peace .

Great story about heroines struggles
Great to read about the heroines struggles with panic attacks and how the story evolved when she reconnected with Cole and the support from him and his team. It is a great reminder that we should never judge a book by its cover (no pun intended). The book had great characterization and was well narrated.
