About this listen
Volume One includes four full-length novels:
Ever Yours, Annabelle: As a girl, Annabelle Huxley chased Robert Conrad with reckless abandon, and he always rescued her when she pushed too far - until the accident that cost him everything.
The Madness of Viscount Atherbourne: Victoria Lacey's life is perfect-perfectly boring. Surely no one suspects her secret longing for head-spinning passion. Except a dark stranger, on a terrace, at a ball where she should not be kissing a man she has just met.
The Truth About Cads and Dukes: Painfully shy Jane Huxley is in a most precarious position, thanks to dissolute charmer Colin Lacey's deceitful wager. Now, his brother, the icy Duke of Blackmore, must make it right, even if it means marrying her himself.
Desperately Seeking a Scoundrel: Tortured and hunted by a brutal criminal, Lord Colin Lacey is rescued from death's door by the stubborn, fetching Sarah Battersby. In return, she asks one small favor: Pretend to be her fiance. With danger nipping his heels, he knows it is wrong to want her, wrong to agree to her terms. But when has Colin Lacey ever done the sensible thing?
Contains mature themes.

The first time that I listened to this book, the narrators presentation annoyed me immensely, I have just worked out her accent from listening to other narrations and enjoyed the content of the storyline and felt, although a little drawn out the stories followed on with interesting content.

Enjoyable stories.
I enjoyed all the stories although at times our heroines seem to indulge in way too much overthinking, do seemingly very silly things that don't fit with their supposed intelligence, and bizarrely seem incapable of working out that their blokes adore them even if they haven't admitted it. I mean men that bonk their women senseless or sit at a bedside for 3 days so desperately worried about a wife aren't just doing it out of a sense of duty. This isn't plausible. The bloke's reasons for not being sure about their wives were usually more plausible.
The narration was good in terms of general accents and great with different voices but many of the vowel sounds, most usually the words with an 'a', varied from ok to poor, and drove even this Australian slightly nuts, especially in the first book. We have a different accent but use the same pronunciation of the vowels with a few exceptions. Too many words with short 'a' sounds as in apple were pronounced as 'ah', or even 'uh'. Back is not bark (with a non rhotic r). Fact is not farct, (that had me giggling), guffaw is not guffah, it's an 'or' (with a non rhotic 'r') sound. However these mispronunciations were less noticeable as I progressed to each book, so maybe there have already been corrections made.

does this narrator even understand english??
the story was okay (I think) but trying to understand what was going on with the narrators weird accent was hard. it's like they got Moira Rose (SCHITS CREEK) to narrate the story. her inflection was crazy, she didn't understand how grammar works or how words work! very frustrating. the author should re-record the books with a better narrator

Terrible Narrating
So disappointed...I got 5 minutes in and couldn't listen to anymore. The narrating is so bad....takes twice as long as it needs to and the tilts and lilts in her voice are as ridiculous as they are unnecessary.

mostly unread
just could not get into this book, the narrators phrasing and little girl voice drove me mad. I will avoid this narrator in future.
