About this listen

The downloadable, digital audiobook edition of Jussi Adler-Olsen’s sensational new thriller, read by the actor Steven Pacey.

Two boys, brothers, wake tied and bound in a boathouse by the sea. Their kidnapper has gone, but soon he will return. Their bonds are inescapable.

But there is a bottle and tar to seal it. Paper and a splinter for writing; blood for ink. A message begging for help.

In Copenhagen’s cold cases division Carl Morck has received a bottle. It holds an old and decayed message, written in blood. It is a cry for help from two boys. Is it real? Who are they and why weren’t they reported missing? Can they possibly still be alive?

Book 3 - AWESOME

What made the experience of listening to Redemption the most enjoyable?

As always, Seven Pacey's narration; he is incredible.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Redemption?

Discovering the torturous childhood of the torturer...that always gives me more to ponder upon.

What does Steven Pacey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I don't know that he added anything that I would not have experienced by reading it; but from listening to it, he brought it alive, as he does with all his narrations.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. There were a few cliffhangers but I was able to put it down.

Any additional comments?

This is not a genre I normally read and I did find it confusing for quite a few chapters. The book goes back and fro from present to past and between countries. I had difficulty keeping up with the names...especially when you have to remember them and can't see them in print. I also felt there was a lot of wasted space in the book...annoying stories, making me yearn for the plot and real story to continue. However, when it got going I was definitely hooked.

SLOW STARTER BUT MEMORABLE

Dept Q is my new favourite audiobook series and I feel so lucky that there’s 12 books I believe for me to listen to.
I’ve really enjoyed the previous books and the character development so far (very keen to know more about Assad) but this was the best one yet, the view from the different characters and how they all tied in together was done incredibly well. The suspense from this book almost killed me and the ending was excellent!
At first I found the narration a bit jarring maybe but I don’t feel that way anymore - he does a fantastic job.
Excited to start the next book now.

Favourite in this series yet! What a book!!

There is an issue with chapter 7 about 14 minutes into the chapter where it you only get one syllable per word that's being said. Makes listening to it difficult. Please fix it
