Publisher's Summary

Dragon heiress and her bad boy wolf shifter get a second chance at forbidden love. Is it too late?

All dragon shifter Cynthia “Brown” wants is a safe place to raise her child and heal from bitter betrayal. When Cal - her first love, her only love, and her destined mate - unexpectedly appears on Maui, he stirs up all kinds of other desires, too. But trouble - as usual - is hot on his heels.

Cal Zydler has spent a decade secretively protecting the only woman he’s ever loved. Cynthia may be hopelessly out of his league, but he’ll never, ever give up on her, no matter how forbidden their love is. In his dreams, he rides off into the sunset with his destined mate on the back of his vintage motorcycle. In real life...well, not every wolf shifter gets a happy ending, especially not a guy from the wrong side of the tracks. And not when danger lurks everywhere - even on a sunny island paradise.

Evil shifter forces are gathering to attack the Hawaiian hideaway where Cynthia and her young son have taken refuge. It’s her darkest hour, and Cal is ready to make the ultimate sacrifice. The future of all shifters stands on the brink, and even the Special Forces heroes of Koakea - dragons, lions, wolves, and bear shifters - will need help to beat the odds. Does Cal pose the ultimate danger, or is he Cynthia’s only hope?

Awesome Second Chance!

OMG!!! I absolutely loved this story. Like Chase’s story, I was looking forward to Cynthia's. Ms. Lowe outdid herself with this fifth and final book in Aloha Shifters: Pearls of Desire. We found out more about Cynthia, Cal and Joey’s father and how they are intertwined. There are some surprises in this book and Joey's father is one of them. When Cal arrived, Cynthia softened. She always seemed like a harda$$ around the other shifters. I also loved Cynthia and Cal's inner dialogue that each other could hear. Little Joey was adorable even during the fight scenes. Such a determined little guy. During those scenes, it was so suspenseful. It was great and, of course, I was rooting for the good guys. So much happens during this book. I am sorry to see this series come to an end. I loved the ending but would love to hear more about each of these shifters. After listening to the entire series, I feel like I am part of their shifter family. Great job by Kelsey Osborne with the narration. She clearly differentiated the characters and there where many characters in this book. I couldn't recommend this series highly enough. You will not be disappointed. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Dragon heiress

I enjoyed listening to Cynthia's story. So much has lead up to the unveiling of Cynthia's back story. A love lost, a new love born, and a second chance. Cal has pledged his life to protect Cynthia and Joey. Will Cynthia let Cal keep his promise, after all she is an alpha. And she has come to claim all that is rightfully hers.

I’ve been waiting for this story!

Cynthia, has taught me how to be assertive and to lead not follow. I enjoyed her story. She has lost a lot but it didn’t make her quit she persevered and became stronger.

Thrilling finale to the Maui shifter series

I always love reading and then listening to Anna's books. Her narrator is fantastic and I hear things I had forgotten about when I read the book. This is a great finale to the series, or rather the two series, set in Maui.

The final book in the series, sigh. I was so happy to get Cynthia's story, but so sad to know it was the finale of the series. This book has it all, lost love and dragon battles!

Cynthia is the co-alpha of the shifters at Koakea Plantation and has always been a bit of a mystery. She and her young son, Joey, are dragon shifters (or at least Joey will be when he is old enough to shift) and are obviously running from 7 or someone. It is obvious to most that Cynthia comes from a noble bloodline, but she has never spoken of it. Dell learned that Moira is her cousin, but he kept that information to himself since it wasn't77 his to share. All the shifters are very protective of both Cynthia and Joey.

When a mysterious man on a motorcycle arrives at the the plantation the other shifters are suspicious and to who he is and why he wants to see Cynthia. He is obviously a wolf shifter, and a battle hardened one at that. How does he know Cynthia and why is he here now?

If you read the prequel to Cynthia and Cal's story then you know some of the answers. Find out how Cal came to be the wolf he is today and see what happens when he and his fated mate meet again. The war will also come to a head as Moira makes her move on the shifters of Maui.

I was given a copy of this audio book by the author. My review is voluntary.

The Conclusion - I'm Sad To See It End

This story starts where the prequel about Cal and Cynthia left off but if you haven't read Rebel Heart don't worry you will have no trouble picking up the story. It also brings to an end my favorite series of shifter stories ever!

So far in this series, Cynthia has been an aloof and commanding figure, she's co-alpha, she's rigid and strict and although she has mellowed a little during the previous books her history has remained a secret known only to Silas the dragon shifter who brought this group together to help guard his own shifter pack and family.

But in this book, we learn that Cynthia has a heart and that for twelve long years she has pinned for her destined mate Cal after being forced to give him up and marry Barnaby for the honour of her royal bloodline. We've always known that she would die for her son Joey but she never seemed to mourn the loss of her husband Barnaby, at least not openly, in this wonderfully crafted story we find out what made her the way she is and watch as she struggles to become so much more.

Cal is a lone wolf, he's an alpha wolf without a pack, he's totally alone in the world. The reason for this is that some twelve years ago he met and fell in love with his destined mate Cynthia Beard, but she chose family duty, over their love/bond. Why? because she was a dragon, the highest level of shifter, not only that she was the last of her royal line which also happened to be one of the oldest and most respected dragon bloodlines. But for the last two years, his mate has been a widow, with a son and they both need his protection and he is going to step up and provide it! Will his mate accept him back into her life? Will her pack accept him into their midst? Will they be able to defeat the enemy who is coming?

As this is the final book in the series there is a lot happening lots of loose ends to be tied off and lots of questions answered. Moria, Cynthia's cousin, who has featured so much in this series and the previous one finally makes her move against all the shifters in an attempt to take over the wealth which belongs to Cynthia by killing her and taking her innocent son Joey. But Moria doesn't come alone, she brings with her a new threat in the form of more dragons this time from Europe together with a whole bunch of mercenaries. Will the shifters we have come to know and love be able to defeat their enemies? Will Cal be accepted by Cynthia? How will Joey take to having to share his mother's love if she does? How will the members of her pack take to a new loan wolf in their midst?

There is so much more I want to say that but would involve spoilers and I don't want to do that so all I can say is this book is beautifully crafted, the writing style is excellent and the action and chemistry had me holding my breath! I absolutely adored it!

This book is narrated by the very talented Kelsey Osborne who has narrated all the books in this and series and the Jewels of The Heart series. Kelsey's feel for the books and the characters who live within their pages is excellent and her narration could not be improved upon.

Now that the final full stop has been written I feel at a loss like I've lost a group of friends. But I would not have missed this journey for the world.

I was given a copy of this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Rebel Alpha

A perfect ending to this series! I was so happy to see that Cynthia would finally be getting her HEA, and her mate was just perfect for her. The love and protection Cal has for her is fierce and unyielding and as certain secrets are found out, it is unreal just how much. I think these two may be my favorite couple out of all of them (even though I think that after each book since Anna just gets better every time) and am super excited to check out her next series.

Oh this was fantastic

Cynthia is a dragon shifter. All she wants is a safe place for her son (Joey) and her to live and heal after her husband was murdered . She was found a home at Maui on koakea plantation.
Her husband was not her mate but and forced/arranged marriage. He did turn out to be a good man. Problem was she knew who her mate was Cal a wolf shifter. Someone her parents would not let her be with.
Cal is a wolf shifter and lone wolf. He is Cynthia's true mate but being a wolf he was not permitted to stay with her. But that has not stopped him for protecting her from afar. Danger is comming for her and he will give up his life to save her.
I loved this story. The characters are fantastic. The twist and turns keep you glued to the story. Don't miss this one shifter fans it's awesome.

A great finish to this series.

A great finish to this series. Enjoyable narration but sometimes the inflections just weren’t right for me and at other times the narrator really bought the book to life. Such a lot happening in this book and it was a pleasure to be able to listen to it whilst doing my ironing and cooking. I am finding audible is a great way to listen to a series when one is busy. BOOK REVIEW There is so much going on in this last book and it was a pleasure to read. The whole group we have come to love are out in force for the final confrontation. Our very quiet and secretive Cynthia Brown comes out of the closet with a bang. Cynthia and Cal are destined mates who met 12 years previously but parted under family pressure. Cynthia has lived with guilt and self-recrimination for years. Her only solace is her son Joey. The whole reason for her past decisions. Cynthia’s destined mate comes to Koakea on a mission and so much sadness, regret and turmoil is bought into the open to be dealt with. Cal has been on the edges of Moira and Joey’s life, protecting them from afar, no matter how it has deadened his heart to do this. He has lived only to protect and avenge Cynthia against her enemies. His supporter in doing this is a big surprise. Moira and her evil are dealt with. Other players are bought in and we are looking to veer off into interesting territory. Though I am sad that the Koakea Plantation shifters have come to an end, I am excited at where I think Ms Lowe is going to take us next. I was kindly given this book by the author but I read it thorough KU. This is my honest review of this book.
