About this listen

Di writes about the Australia she knows, she loves, she’s explored. Rain Music is inspired by her adventures in far north Queensland - its characters, its forgotten history, its modern dilemmas.

A brother and sister, Ned and Bella Chisolm, are struggling with a family tragedy that has set them on opposite paths. After Ned takes off to pursue his musical dreams in far north Queensland, he disappears.

When Bella goes in search of her brother, she ends up in remote Cooktown, and both their lives are dramatically changed in the isolated, little-known far north of Australia. Rain Music tells the one story through two sets of eyes.

Loved it. Great story and the narrator was above excellent. Good description of the place and people where the story takes place. I love this writer. Now one of my favourites

I really like Di Morriseys books and was looking forward to another of her stories, however I found it quite slow and a bit boring. Wasn't til about 3/4 into the story I found it interesting. Disappointed

A little slow

I don’t usually comment on the narrator but I found the narrator’s female voices very dull and annoying. The story was hard going to begin with because if it’s slow and steady pace but the history was interesting and the ending had me intrigued.

Slow to start but interesting ending

Not a bad book, I struggled a lot with the narrator, most of the time his voices for the female characters sounded either a bit Dame Edna-ish or pathetic femme fatale and the men sounded sleezy! Because of that I fast forwarded through it a bit.
Better to read this one I think. Story was good a bit long drawn out at times.

This audiobook made women sound so pathetic and breathy & made me wonder whether the man narrating had actually had any conversations with strong, serious, normal women in his life! I really struggled with the storyline, or lack of, but wonder if I may have enjoyed it more reading it myself in hard copy. I used to like Di Morrissey books for an easy read but I couldn't even finish the last one & have to say, this one, filled with cliches and stereotypes & a real lack of character development or exploration, had me scoffing at it and wishing for the end to hurry up and get here. Don't waste your time.

What a struggle
