About this listen

With the stakes so high, racing can be a deadly business...best-selling author Felix Francis' latest thriller!

Chris Rankin is a doctor, a specialist in emergency medicine at Cheltenham Hospital, but a doctor who also has health problems.

A smartly dressed man has been found unconscious at the local racecourse and is rushed to the hospital, where he subsequently dies. But who is he? Where does he come from? He had no form of identification on him, and no one claims the body.

Doctor Rankin is intrigued by the nameless dead man, obsessed even, and starts asking questions. However, someone doesn't want the questions answered and will go to any lengths to prevent it, including attempting murder. But no one else believes that someone tried to kill Chris, leaving the doctor no option but to discover who the nameless man is and why he died, preferably before following him into an early grave.

A story set in England, by an English author, and read by an English narrator, yet they americanised the vocabulary. Cell phones, licence plates, parking lots... It spoiled an otherwise gripping story.

Other than that both the story and narration were excellent.

A shame it had been Americanised

Really enjoyed this book the storyline was great and very interesting. There were no dull points in the book it kept me engaged all the way through. I really liked the narrator too, she made the whole listening experience enjoyable.

A great read!

I was excited for a female main character and the prospect of a racecourse doctor was a fresh idea with so much promise but unfortunately I was bitterly disappointed with the story and did not like the main character. I found her extremely tedious and could not develope any rapport with her. The description that came to mind repeatedly throughout the book was a mental health awareness advertisement trying to disguise itself as a novel.
I'm so glad I chose to listen to this book where I could complete other tasks in conjunction rather than dedicating time to sitting down and reading it; time that would have been considered a waste.
It is such a shame because I have enjoyed Felix Francis' other Dick Francis books and I hope his future books will be much more enjoyable.

Unfortunately Disappointed
