Raven Bennett is celebrating landing a new job as a Marketing Analyst with friends at Silver nightclub.
Throughout the night a sexy man (Charles) is making eyes at her. Charles is a marketing exec out having drinks with friends and takes an important call in the empty cloakroom.
Raven mistakes the cloakroom for the bathroom.
Instantly sparks fly, they kiss but it’s short-lived when they’re interrupted abruptly by Charles’ best mate Paxton.
They part ways, only to discover that Raven’s new boss and owner of the company she works for is the man she kissed in the cloakroom: Charles Cavendish and as much as they try to keep their relationship strictly professional, the universe keeps pulling them back together, their attraction for each other was intoxicating.
I also fell in love with the secondary characters in this book: Charles’ Personal Assistant Shelby was no joke: she kept him honest and pulled no punches, whilst embodied the model of loyal assistant that would defend and protect the integrity of her CEO.
Equally I loved Charles’ best mate Paxton: he was always there to be the voice of reason and pull Charles’ head-in when he was being ridiculous and was also able to form a great relationship with Raven.
Their chemistry is off the charts hot, steamy and incendiary - not only because their physical attraction, but they were kindred spirits in that they were both very strong work ethic and both suffered the loss of a parent.
Charles is a driven successful billionaire that kept strict rules about office relationships, but try as he might, he could not resist Raven – their attraction to one and other was so intensely intoxicating that he couldn’t help breaking the rules. She was his little Rae of Sunshine – I see what Ava did there: I love it!
I fell in love with Charles and Raven and thoroughly enjoyed their humour and their banter. I was cheering them on from the get-go and Charles stole my heart once he opened his heart to Raven.
Needless to say their path to HEA wasn’t an easy one, there was drama, deception, and even unrequited love triangles with one in particular you don’t quite see coming.
This is my first Ava Harrison book, so I popped by proverbial cherry with this book and boy have I been missing out. British Heroes are my kryptonite, so add the Billionaire Grumpy Boss factor and I’m a gonner.
I absolutely devoured this audiobook, once I started, I couldn’t stop listening.
Shane’s portrayal of the grumpy, arrogant, growly, handsome Brit is flawless and perfectly captures Charles’ emotions. We get his signature deep, growly sonorous tones that I adore and come to expect – he is beyond perfect at the Billionaire British Hero at this point and each performance gets better and better.
Equally flawless is Vanessa portrayal of the driven, intelligent, caring, and delicious Raven. I adore Vanessa, she is big favourite of mine, her depth of talent and range in her accents and male voices is phenomenal.
Together Shane and Vanessa are the perfect Charles and Raven. I already knew I would love this story, but Shane and Vanessa took me on a journey that had me loving this even more. It was a fantastic performance of a fabulous book from a great author!
If I could give this book 6 or more stars I absolutely would, it was outstanding!
