Plötzlich geschehen in deren Umfeld allerhand unerklärliche Unfälle. Nur wenig später kommt es zu einem tragischen Todesfall. Professor van Dusen ist überzeugt, dass ein kaltblütig kalkulierter Mord vorliegt. Doch damit reißen die dramatischen Ereignisse nicht ab. Eine Leiche verschwindet und jeder misstraut dem anderen.
