Better than most

Dino-Horror is a notoriously terrible sub-genre. Most books I find that fall into this category are horrendously written, unrealistic, and/or just flat out boring. Primitive War is a bit of an exception, as in it’s better than most but not the greatest in and of itself. To the authors credit the writing in some parts is very well done and does well to convey the horror of predation and wartime. Other parts are a bit confused and tended to ramble on. One such part for me was the characters. Half the book is a constant rehashing personal trauma over and over which takes most of the weight out of it leaving little payoff. The action gets a bit goofy and confusing to follow sometimes as well. The dino’s were also heavily equipped with their plot armor making them nearly invulnerable. They’re animals, not mechanized war machines... But overall it was fun for what it was and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys dino-horror.

Well worth the wait

I have read all of the books and have been waiting with bated breath for this audiobook to come out. I am not disappointed. the narrator has done a masterful job the book itself is excellent one of the best novels I've read or listened to. It's like a rated r Jurassic Park all the violence and Gore you could want put together in an unrelenting story that never gives you a slow minute. I will be listening to it again and again.

definitely awesome but has some flaws

really like the story even though I was hesitant at first to get it. I'm really glad I stepped into this genre and I'm looking forward for the next book.

the negatives weren't many but part of this audio book hype was the narration and Wayne June does have a great voice. however, it was annoying that Eli sounded like some stereotypical 19th century gold miner and so does Leon. it was hard to take the characters serious because how June read their parts made them seem cartoonish. it seems Mr. June doesn't do a southern accent very well. Also, Xavier was supposed to be a half native American that grew up in the woods of Maine but sounded like JFK. but other than that, his narration was awesome.

the authors tended to recycle metaphors and analogies but it wasn't too terrible.

I really enjoyed hearing Pettus' descriptions of facial expressions and human interactions. I often found myself making the faces according to his description as some kind of confirmation as i would hear them.

cool series!

The darker Jurassic park

Honestly read the graphic novel first (art is amazing) and wanted to explore through audio book as well. A great story with people who act like people. The greys of the world are evident and truly hope the sequel is as good.

Great book for Dino fans and history buffs!

I enjoyed this book thoroughly and I'm really looking forward to the comic adaptation. I will warn you that it's not a kid's book, depending of course on the kid. There is of course violence and gore, as well as drug references and mental illness, and an overall dark tone. The humans and dinosaurs were characterized well, and the narrator did a fine job with one exception.... as someone from the South his Southern accents could use some work. Everything else was great.

Dread & Gravity

I loved in the most morbid way possible you really feel the just bleakness of being hunted and nobody is coming to save these people ....its was also a very raw war story which you don't hear very often ....the narrator is a absolute banger you instinctively connect that voice to the setting and he does a good mix for the characters

Amazing!

After reading the synopsis of this book, I knew it had to be good and it didn’t disappoint!

It’s the perfect blend of platoon, predator and Jurassic Park. It’s action and horror elements are very well done and the level of detail put in is truly amazing and I can’t wait for more Primitive War!
