About this listen

The second installment of Scott Westerfeld’s New York Times bestselling and award-winning Uglies series—a global phenomenon that started the dystopian trend.

Tally has finally become pretty. Now her looks are beyond perfect, her clothes are awesome, her boyfriend is totally hot, and she’s completely popular. It’s everything she’s ever wanted.

But beneath all the fun—the nonstop parties, the high-tech luxury, the total freedom—is a nagging sense that something’s wrong. Something important. Then a message from Tally’s ugly past arrives. Reading it, Tally remembers what’s wrong with pretty life, and the fun stops cold.

Now she has to choose between fighting to forget what she knows and fighting for her life—because the authorities don’t intend to let anyone with this information survive.

Loved the storyline and very much looking forward to the next book in the series.

The first book was so good it made me so disappointed in this one!
For a YA novel there was a lot of heavy topics such as self harming and eating disorders. As an adult I was able to see it for what it is but was very concerning and made me cringe every time it popped up.

(spoilers)

The love interest in the first book was completely written out and didn't come back until the end of the book! The new love interest that came pretty early on was really unlikeable in my opion.

lots of triggering content, ED and SH

The storyline had potential but ended up super repetitive and unimaginative. Don't waste your time and credits on this series. It reads like it was written by a child.
