About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

From the bestselling author of AMERICAN WIFE, ELIGIBLE and YOU THINK IT, I'LL SAY IT.

Lee Fiora is a shy fourteen-year-old when she leaves small-town Indiana for a scholarship at Ault, an exclusive boarding school in Massachusetts. Her head is filled with images from the school brochure of handsome boys in sweaters leaning against old brick buildings, girls running with lacrosse sticks across pristine athletics fields, everyone singing hymns in chapel. But as she soon learns, Ault is a minefield of unstated rules and incomprehensible social rituals, and Lee must work hard to find - and maintain - her place in the pecking order.

'Sittenfeld writes girls and women as they truly are, with shades of light and dark, with and without grace, apologetic as well as fearless' BIM ADEWUNMI, Guardian

'PREP might just be my favourite book' PANDORA SYKES

'Sittenfeld shares with Salinger a knack of capturing, in effortless prose, a teenager mindset' The Times
'PREP is more than a coming of age story - it’s a study of social class ... and Sittenfeld renders it with astonishing deftness and clarity.' JENNIFER EGAN

'Straightforward, serious, funny... There is so much that is right about this book.' London Review of Books

'Sharp, caustic and brilliantly observed' Observer

I relate to the over analysis.
So like my teenage self - feeling like a fish, not completely, just a little, out of water.
And the complete obsession with a boy…

So good…C S is genius.

Ok I am reading/listening to everything Curtis Sittenfeld after loving her other books. This one is pretty disappointing though. Even my daughters who are ‘young adults’ would find this boring..
It reminds me of Elena Ferrante’s books so if you liked them you might like this - the constant introspective insecure drivel, and not very interesting drivel at that.
Read her other books though!! Especially Eligible and Romantic Comedy, even Rodham!

The author is great

The story of Lee Fiora, a young girl from a middle class Mid West family who arrives at Ault School in Massachusetts boarding school where she stays from the ages of fourteen, to eighteen.

During this time we are witness to her struggles to fit in, her first crush/love.
Friendship drama,

Written in the most amazing beautiful prose.
Such a lovely flowing style.
We are given insight to all of Lee’s inner monologues as she deals with all of the above.
She is funny, smart witted, vulnerable, confused.
Then she has to deal with her first real relationship and all the complexities that that entails.

The writing here was just sublime

Wonderful Young Girl Coming of Age Story

Way too long review of teenage life at boarding school. Nothing else. Save 13 hours of your life

Boring & self indulgent
