the assassin parts are worth it
Second book in the series. So far it's ok, generic kinda warhammer stuff. Really the only parts in finding truly interesting are the parts about the Grand Master of the Assassins and the politics of the Senatorum Imperialis. Those are making the series worth listening to. Otherwise story would be a 3 star. Not bad, not good.

Weak story, too meta and kinda boring.
This book was no where near asgood as the first book. The story was kinda boring and to focused on the big picture. I was very disappointed and it was really obvious that this wasn't the same author as the first book. Gareth Armstrong did a great job with the material he had to work with and is the reason I didn't rate the overall lower

Slightly muddled, but satisfying tale.
The middle can be somewhat confusing as perspictive shifts. That said the somber tone of the end was satisfying in a way warhammer novels sometimes lose track of, and was refreshing.

Too short
After spending 5-6hrs building the story (akin to winding up a spring) the ending comes short and sharp (as though the spring was unleashed and it just fell about, lifeless).
Given the short nature of these books, I do question their value compared to other Black Libray titles which can be double or more in length.
Overall, good story buildup and narration. Let down by content length and quick ending.

Pedestrian At Best
Usual GW/Black Library fiction with plenty of gore-porn designed to titillate the mind of those in need of a bath and a walk. The plot is very bitty, with too many far reaching characters that have fleeting, if any, connection to each other. As with most sequels it just had no punch to it, and thus all the characters were expendable. Repeated clichés didn't help the story at all.
The performance was flawless though. Great work done by the narrator, shame he was stuck with such a poor script.
