About this listen

'What if, until now, you've never really prayed. Not like Jesus designed it, anyway.'

Prayer is the source of Jesus's most astonishing miracles and the subject of Jesus' most audacious promises, and yet, most people - even most Bible-believing Christians - find prayer to be boring, obligatory, disappointing, confusing, or, most often, all of the above.

If you've ever felt this way, Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools is your invitation to trade your conceptions and misconceptions about prayer for prayer in its purest form: a vital, sustaining, powerful connection with God that is more real and alive than you could have ever imagined. In these pages, Tyler Staton - author, pastor, and national director of the 24/7 Prayer movement - addresses common roadblocks to prayer and gives you the confidence to come to God just as you are.

Through biblical teaching, powerful storytelling, and insights on historic Christian practices, Staton helps you ...

· Express your doubts and disappointments about prayer

· Discover and practice multiple postures of prayer, including silence, persistence, confession, and more

· Understand and embrace the wonder and mystery of prayer in everyday life

· Realize that prayer is a powerful invitation to partner with God in the redemption of a fallen world

· And, ultimately, open or reopen the line of communication with your Creator and experience afresh his divine power on earth.

Prayer is a journey, and this book will help you transition your prayer life from a path littered with half-hearted requests to a treasured journey of ever-deepening, adventurous relationship with Jesus.©2022 Tyler Staton (P)2022 Zondervan

So many incredible stories to build faith in prayer but also the reality of what we are facing today and even in trails and suffering choosing to persevere in persistent prayer because of Who he is and our trust in him.

This book has been instrumental in helping me open up my heat to Our Father in Heaven.
As a practicing Catholic, prayer has always been embedded in my routine.
However, Praying like Monks and Living like Fools has unlocked new aspects of my prayer life. One of the most striking points for me were:
1. Being vulnerable in prayer, not pray the way you ought to, but be who you are, naked in the presence of God.
2. Pray like David, a man after God’s Heart.
3. Be still, labour silently in prayer.
Thank you Tyler and Tim, this is an exceptional book.

A must read for anyone wanting to improve their relationship with God

I highly recommend this book. I’ve been listening to a chapter each day and doing the ‘practice’ which comes at the end of the chapter. Really easy to apply and something to make you think and practice prayer more deeply.

Highly recommended

I hadn’t heard much about this book before I read it but as I dove in I fell right in. This depiction of prayer and understanding the mystery behind it is so emotionally overwhelming that it is beautiful. Thank you Tyler. You have helped rekindle something in me for prayer.

This is the most heartfelt and honest description and prescription of prayer

This is my second read of this book and I think it was needed! A lengthy read but a lot of treasure hidden that if you blink you could miss. Love that Tyler narrated as it makes a huge difference when the author narrates their own material; they seem to own it better. I read it as part of the prayer practice sessions from John Mark Comer and it was a great accompaniment to that.
great job Tyler
