Publisher's Summary

How much damage will the Democrats do to our republic in the name of saving it?

In the years he served on and eventually chaired the United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Jason Chaffetz gained crucial insight into the inner workings of DC. Things were bad then, but during the Trump administration, liberals have reached a new level of hysteria and misconduct.

Democrat anger has grown so irrational that it has burst through the constitutional guardrails which protect our institutions and our republic. While they constantly label the right "fascist", the left imposes policies which suppress speech, limit freedom, and empower federal bullies.

In Power Grab, Chaffetz pulls back the curtain on the world of hypocrisy, political intrigue, and procedural malfeasance that is Washington, DC. With stories you won't hear anywhere else, he shows how the left weaves false narratives, drums up investigations in search of a crime, and refuses to direct congressional oversight towards its appropriate target: the government. Democrats weaponize nonprofit advocacy groups and monetize partisan anger to line the pockets of their political allies. They use "voter enrollment" as a smokescreen to hide their plans to destabilize free elections and seek to politicize federal agencies like the Federal Election Commission, the IRS, and the Department of Justice.

It shouldn’t be this way. Democrats have abandoned the wisdom set forth in the Constitution for short-term political wins. Power Grab shows the lengths to which Democrats will go to maintain their grip on power, and how the only thing that will stop them is a return to our founding principles.

Power Grab

Book answers a lot of my questions. Very interesting and informative. It makes me want to understand why Trumps election is in question. He just seemed to be more for the people.

An Excellent Treatise on Today’s Politics

Jason Chaffetz reveals the many threats our freedoms face in this modern era. His insights as a former congressman bring to light how Constitutional rights are being eroded. The chapter ‘A Positive Path Forward’ should be read and reread, and then acted upon by every citizen whether elected to public office or not.

Logical and easy to follow.

Author debunks many far left theories. Leans toward the right but for anyone neutral/open-minded.

Constitutional crisis

Our beloved country and the constitution is under attack by the liberal Democrats. Jason does a superb job of exposing them with logical arguments that even a child can understand. He points out very well the procedural nuances that they use to perpetuate their power. It is a bit of an overused cliché to say that we are at a tipping point but that certainly does appear to be the case as we get closer and closer to being up ended by the Democrats.

Needs Editing...

The book starts out very slowly and the early and extensive discussion of the various forms of organizations that can or can not make political contributions along with the related IRS code references was boring; the points could have been made much more succinctly.
The word “existential” seems to be borrowed from democrat presidential candidates repetitive use; the word “weaponize” is overused. There are too many “I’ll discuss this later” comments
in the book with only an occasional reference back - confusing; distracting. Finally, there were too many and too long thanks given at the end.
Other than that it was an easy read.
